Resumen de la jornada 27 de la Premier League

The 27th matchday of the Premier League wrapped up, and things are looking pretty grim for the teams still working their way to try and capture the top spot, as Liverpool is just about to get to a point where nobody will be able to pass them on the board.

When it comes to the top 5 on the board, three of the teams took victories in the middle of the week, except for the second and third-placed Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, as they both played to a draw in their most recent encounter.

It is not a bad result by any means, but it allowed Liverpool to get further ahead in the front, almost punching their ticket to the crown early.

Now, it is time to analyze what we think some of the most interesting matches were on the 27th matchday of the Premier League Season before we get ready to break down the upcoming games.

Both teams went all out as soon as the match started. Brighton took the lead after just 12 minutes when Joao Pedro converted a penalty into pure gold.

The Cherries did not want to be left behind and pushed on in search of an equalizer, but it took its time as Brighton was not letting up. Fabian Hurzeler’s side went close to doubling their lead just a few minutes later when Kaoru Mitoma’s volley struck the post.

Bournemouth continued to try and push for an equalizer in the second half, securing one after 62 minutes, as Justin Kluivert came up cutting in from the left-hand side before bending a tremendous effort past Verbruggen.

Hurzeler turned to his bench not long after, opting to make a triple change, and it was a decision that paid off, with substitute Welbeck latching onto Georginio Rutter’s through ball before sliding his effort past Kepa to give the Seagulls all three points at the Amex.

Things got intense off the bat, and after having an earlier shot well saved by Guglielmo Vicario, Haaland made no mistake when Jeremy Doku put it on a plate for him in the 12th minute, casually finding the corner and wrong-footing the Spurs keeper.

The hosts rode their luck in the first half and were lucky to go in at the break trailing by just one goal, with Savinho and Haaland missing big opportunities to give City’s lead a more deserving look, but they came out revived for the second period.

Wilson Odobert had the best of the Spurs chances in the 56th minute after Pedro Porro’s pinpoint delivery, but he couldn’t direct his sliding first-time effort on target to trouble Ederson, so the score was sealed on a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

Wednesday was a grim day for the gunners as Arsenal’s slim title hopes faded further after a frustrating stalemate at Nottingham Forest. Before this game, with the Gunners 11 points behind Liverpool and having a game in hand, boss Mikel Arteta vowed to keep fighting, but it is surely now a futile chase after Wednesday’s results.

The goalless draw at the City Ground left the Gunners 13 points behind leaders Liverpool, who now look like making the run-in a title procession.

Meanwhile, Nottm Forest looked pretty well, breaking their losing streak and holding a tough opponent back in their match on their opponent’s turf.

Result: Nottm Forest 0 – 0 Arsenal

Things were pretty good for Liverpool during this matchday, as Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 11th minute, converting from close range for the second straight game.

Alexis Mac Allister then doubled the hosts’ lead in the 63rd minute, firing home after nice work by Mohamed Salah.

Arne Slot watched the game from the stands while serving a suspension, while Alexander Isak was a significant miss for the visitors due to a slight groin injury.

These sides will meet again in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on March 16th, but it seems we got a pretty definite preview of what will be taking place in a pair of weeks.

Result: Liverpool 2 – 0 Newcastle
