The second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals has ended, and the race to the semifinals gave us some truly unforgettable moments.
With the results set up, we have our victors, and we know what will come. However, it is time to look back at the things that went down first.
Aston Villa had an incredible performance against PSG, a victory with a sour taste like Dortmund’s over Barcelona, outright domination like the one from Arsenal over Real Madrid, and a contested clash between Inter and Bayern.
All quarterfinal matches were great to watch, but the aggregate scores made them even more thrilling, so we can’t wait to see how they perform in the semifinals.
However, it is time for us to focus on looking back at the things that took place in the second leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals before we go and focus on the next stage, so take a seat, and let’s break things down together.

Champions League Playoffs Quarterfinals Roundup: Aston Villa vs. PSG
Aston Villa 3.39 | PSG 2.17 | Empate: 3.76 |
Aston Villa came into the match ready to go, and they produced quite a spirited comeback against Paris Saint-German. However, even with the win on quite an entertaining clash, they are still out of the Champions League following an incredible 5-4 aggregate defeat.
Things looked harsh, as Villa came in with a 3-1 deficit from the first leg. They slipped two behind on the night following goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. Those two goals could have seemingly ended any hopes of a comeback, but the team stunned PSG by pulling three of the four goals back, roared on by the Villa crowd.
Efforts by Youri Tielemans, John McGinn, and Ezri Konsa had the French champions and competition favorites rocking, but the final goal would not come.
Champions League Playoffs Quarterfinals Roundup: Dortmund vs. Barcelona
Dortmund 4.07 | Barcelona 1.86 | Empate: 4.19 |
We got bad and great news for Barcelona after the match. They were beaten for the first time in 2025, but if they were going to lose any game, then this was the time to do it.
Thanks to Barça’s spectacular 4-0 victory in the first leg, Dortmund was going to need a near miracle to flip the tables. However, they were going quite hard, and it looked like they would be able to pull it up at some point.
They took an early lead through an early penalty. Then, they went 2-0 up just after the break before Barça pulled one back courtesy of an own goal.
Dortmund then scored again, setting up a nervy finish for the Catalans, but they held on against the persistent home side and could ultimately celebrate a 5-3 win on aggregate.
Champions League Quarterfinals Roundup: Real Madrid vs. Arsenal
Real Madrid 1.70 | Arsenal 4.86 | Empate: 4.40 |
For Arsenal, the second-leg quarterfinals will be a night to remember. At no point was their 3-0 first‑leg lead in real danger, not even when they gifted Madrid an absurd equalizer immediately after Saka’s goal.
The equalizer could have been the moment that usually sparks madness, a sense of impending doom, but it did not; the men in black ensured as much.
And then, Gabriel Martinelli escaped through the middle of what little was left of the home defense in the last minute and slotted past Thibaut Courtois.
Arsenal had not just beaten the European champions, winning 5-1 on aggregate, they had beaten them in two games. And now, they will march to the semifinals, ready to hit the next match.
Champions League Quarterfinals Roundup: Inter vs. Bayern
Inter 2.72 | Bayern 2.59 | Empate: 3.73 |
Things were exciting in this clash. The Italian champions led 2-1 from the results in the first leg, but their advantage was wiped out by Harry Kane’s crisp, low strike quite early in the second half, starting things up for the rest of the night.
That goal sparked Inter into life, and just nine minutes later, they were in front on the night and in complete control of the tie. Their next goal from a corner as defender Benjamin Pavard powered in a header from Hakan Calhanoglu’s delivery.
Bayern did not give up, and with 14 minutes remaining, they drew level thanks to Eric Dier’s looping back-post header from a tight angle.
Vincent Kompany’s side pushed for a third goal to force extra time. In the fifth of six added minutes, the chance came, but Thomas Muller could not direct his header past Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, which meant that Inter was the team to make it to the Semifinals.
