Last Updated on December 15, 2022 9:03 pm by Erwin Noguera

We are a few days away from the Qatar 2022 World Cup’s Final, as the last two teams prepare to showcase their best performance and full skill set to lift the World Cup.

This World Cup has been exciting and nobody would have expected to see the results we have had in each of the matches starting from the group stage up to this point. If you want to see every surprising result until now, don’t forget to check out our Upsets Superthread.

One way or the other, we are preparing to watch an exciting match in the Qatar 2022 World Cup Final. We are getting two exciting teams to face each other, as Argentina was capable to run over Croatia with a 3-0 score, while France managed to break Morocco’s defense to achieve a 2-0 score and their pass to the final.

That means that the Final match breaks down into these two teams:

  •  Argentina
  •   France

We will know the world champion once these two squads face off on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Now it is time to analyze what these teams have done on their path to this one last match, so we understand all the hype behind the Final, which will be at the Iconic Lusail Stadium to finish this week.

The World Cup Run: Argentina

Argentina has completely rallied from a starting match that had everyone worried, especially in this World Cup where a lot of the strong contender teams got knocked out early due to incredible upsets.

After the disastrous 1-2 loss against Saudi Arabia, the team bounced back, and they did so gracefully.

They picked up the pace after beating Mexico and Poland on 2-0 scores to take over the qualifying spot from Group C.

They managed to stop Australia on their tracks in the Round of 16, but then, they cut things pretty close in the Quarter-finals as they barely took out the Netherlands on a 4-3 penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 score.

The last touch on their current masterpiece was making a statement against Croatia, after shutting them down on a 3-0 score. Being the most interesting thing about this match that they finally managed to break the two goals cap that they had until now.

As a point of comparison, like his compatriot Diego Maradona, who in 1990 rebounded after a group-stage defeat to Cameroon to lead Argentina into the final, Messi helped La Albiceleste overcome the shocking opening loss to Saudi Arabia, scoring in each knockout-round game.

Only three other nations have advanced to as many World Cup finals as Argentina, which reached its sixth after their win over Croatia, in a romp that conferred upon Lionel Messi an ultimate, glorious chance for immortality.

Lionel Messi has never won a World Cup, but he now gets what could be his final chance.

The World Cup Run: France

France is right now considered the power team of the World Cup, as they are not only the defending champions, but their successful run has them at the final once again.

It is impossible to argue against the consistency and power of French soccer, as they continue to showcase it at every chance they have.

Champions at home in France 98, runners-up in Germany in 2006, and Champions again in Russia in 2018.

They are now, in Qatar 2022, looking towards becoming the World Champions twice in a row, after showcasing their skills on an excellent run on their way to the finals.

After a starting 4-1 score against Australia and a 2-1 victory over Denmark, nobody was going to judge them for taking a rest game and letting Tunisia have their time on a 1-0 score as they dominated Group D.

With their offensive power, they crushed Poland 3-1 in the round of 16, to then beat England 2-1 in the Quarter Finals.

But it had to be in the Semi-Finals, where they shocked everyone by shattering Morocco’s almost perfect defense in a matter of 5 minutes, to achieve a 2-0 victory and make their way to the Final Match.

Kylian Mbappé is currently the best player in the world, as he has shattered all the numbers and scores at his young age.

He keeps leading his team to the goal, and the statement will be made if they manage to become champions twice in a row with this kid at the front.

For France, the two-time championship is at arms reach.
