Pro France Men’s and Women’s Challenger Series – Top Contenders Preview

Challenger Series Roxy Pro France and Quicksilver Pro France

Starting on one weekend and finishing on the other, Hossegor, France will get to host an excellent event. This time, a ton of excellent male and female surfers from all over the world meet up at the Pro France Challenger Series.

This WSL event takes place yearly at the beginning of October

This year the event takes place from October 16 to 24, 2021 at the Seignosse, Hossegor, in France.

Top Contenders – Pro France Challenger Series – 2021 Surf – Men’s & Women’s

Top 2 Men’s: Quicksilver Pro France:

  • Kanoa Igarashi

Kanoa Igarashi is a 24 years old Japanese-American surfer who has competed professionally worldwide since 2012.

In 2016, he was the youngest rookie on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). Since then, he had collected more Round One wins than any other surfer. Later he finished 2nd place at the Pipeline event, and 20th place overall that year.

His greatest career performance was in the 2019 WSL CT where he won the Corona Bali Protected event, Thanks to that price he placed 6th place overall that year.

As a top-ranked finisher of the 2019 WSL CT, Igarashi qualified to compete in the 2020-21 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo as a representative of Japan. He won the Silver medal in the competition.

  • Nat Young

Nat Young, a 30 years old American Surfer from Santa Fe, California. He had his WCT debut and famously won the Cold Water Classic at the age of 17.

For a teenager from Santa Cruz, it’s the equivalent of winning the Triple Crown as a local Hawaiian grom. 

It’s been eight years since Nat joined the tour, seven since he was awarded Rookie of the Year, and five since Kanoa Igarashi surprised everyone, making the Semis at the 2016 Pipe Masters, and knocked Nat off. 

Nat is ranked 2nd on the QS and plans to get a victory. He’ll face his old rival once more in this event.

Top 2 Women’s – ROXY Pro France:

  • Tatiana Weston-Webb

Tatiana Weston-Webb was born May 9, 1996, and she is a Brazilian–American surfer based in Kauai, Hawaii.

She was the only rookie on the WCT in 2015. Weston-Webb wears jersey number 9 and her 2016 ‘CT rank is number 4.

On April 29, 2018, she announced her switch over to Brazil representation for the remainder of the 2018 WSL Championship Tour season.

That to compete representing her native country in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, a childhood dream she accomplished.

  • Kirra Pinkerton

Kirra Pinkerton is a young and energetic American Pro Surfer best known as a winner of the 2018 WSL championship held in Taiwan where she showcased her game talent amazingly to her competitors and game lovers.

The young surfer has dominated the championships held inside the country and has won WSL North America Junior Qualifying Championship.

She proved that age is just a number and her skills, stamina, and hunger to win got praised by many sports critics during the WSL Championship.

Things look bright for the young talented surfer as she gets ready for this event.
