The emotions of the 2022 World Surf League season calendar continue and, above all, in the QS 3000 division. Here the best European surfers are seeking to add as many points as possible, which will allow them to qualify for the Challenger Series. This division is one step below the highest category of surfing worldwide, the Championship Tour.

The top 9 male surfers and the top 7 female surfers, plus 1 wildcard in each category, will compete in the Challenger Series. The next stop of the European Qualifying Series will be the QS 3000 Estrella Galicia Caparica Surf Fest. It will be held from April 5 to 10, 2022 in Caparica, Portugal.

Top 2 Men’s

  • Vasco Ribeiro

The Portuguese surfer Vasco Ribeiro arrives at this Estrella Galicia Caparica Surf Fest with the label of favorite to win this match. He is one of the few surfers who has just participated in the Championship Tour this year. More specifically, in the MEO Pro Portugal, where he ranked #33 and scored 265 points.

In last season’s Challenger Series, Vasco Ribeiro did not have a good performance. His best result was a #17 finish in the Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold Haleiwa Challenger.

  • Joan Duru

The 32-year-old French veteran, Joan Duru, arrives at this Estrella Galicia Caparica Surf Fest with the mission of returning to being that successful surfer he was several seasons ago.   • Leticia Canales
