The NFL season has come to an end. The Philadelphia Eagles were crowned champions of Super Bowl LIX after a dominant 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
There was no three-peat for the Chiefs and Mahomes. Jalen Hurts’ Eagles were vastly superior, and with an incredible defense, they managed to dethrone Kansas City, securing their second Vince Lombardi Trophy and also avenging their loss in the final two years ago.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who had an outstanding game, was named Super Bowl MVP.

The Philadelphia Eagles were crowned the best team of the 2024 NFL season after humiliating the Kansas City Chiefs, who came close to achieving a historic three-peat.
Head coach Nick Sirianni surprised everyone by opting for an aerial offense instead of a ground game, which had been the team’s strength throughout the season. Saquon Barkley did not score a single touchdown and recorded his second-lowest yardage total of the season with only 57 yards. It’s the sixth time this year that he rushed for fewer than 100 yards.
Jalen Hurts proved he has a great arm and that he can do more than run, completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, rushing 11 times, and scoring two passing touchdowns. He also scored another rushing touchdown to open the scoring after a great pass to Jahan Dotson, who was stopped just one yard short of the end zone.
In the second quarter, Jake Elliott extended the lead to 10 with a field goal, and then Cooper DeJean intercepted a pass from Patrick Mahomes, returning it for a touchdown. On his 22nd birthday, the cornerback secured both his first career interception and his first career touchdown.
And that was the key. The Eagles’ defense was far superior to the Chiefs’. Philadelphia forced three turnovers, intercepted Mahomes twice, and sacked the Kansas City quarterback in six opportunities.
Mahomes was intercepted again, this time by All-Pro Zack Baun, and immediately after, A.J. Brown scored on a solid pass from Hurts. When Kendrick Lamar stepped onto the stage for the halftime show, it was clear that the game had not been going well, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
After Halftime
In the second half, Jake Elliott added another field goal, and a spectacular 46-yard pass to DeVonta Smith made it 34-0, effectively sealing the Super Bowl with more than a quarter still to play. From that point on, the Eagles eased up, allowing the Chiefs to score, thanks to their quarterback’s strong arm.
Mahomes scrambled and threw a difficult pass almost on the line, but Xavier Worthy stepped back and, nearly from the ground, managed to catch it, putting Kansas City on the board just before the third quarter ended.
In the fourth quarter, Jake Elliott nailed two more field goals, and the Chiefs added two more touchdowns—one from DeAndre Hopkins and another from Worthy on a brilliant 60-yard pass from Mahomes. But by then, the Eagles were already celebrating, dousing Sirianni with Gatorade. Mahomes ended the night with 21 out of 32 passes, 257 yards, and three touchdowns, showing that the interceptions made the difference.
Time ran out, and the Eagles secured a well-deserved championship, not just for their stellar 18-3 season, but for their dominant performance in this game. Besides Hurts’ outstanding play and Barkley’s sacrifice, the defense was the true key—protecting their quarterback while relentlessly attacking the opponent.
