Serie A Matchday 6 – Roundup and Results

Last Updated on September 12, 2022 4:49 pm by Erwin Noguera

Matchday 6 of the Serie A has finished. Thus we could see several teams that continue to demonstrate that their good start to the season is no coincidence. Also, that their mission is to fight for the Scudetto despite not being favorites to do so.

We are talking about teams like Atalanta, Udinese, and Lazio. 3 teams that are unexpectedly fighting for the top of the standings, above teams like Inter, Roma, and Juventus. But, we must mention that Torino jumps off that ship with its loss to Inter.

Napoli won again and remains undefeated at the top of the table, now equal with Atalanta and Milan, with 14 points. Inter returned to winning ways; but it was only enough to place them in fifth place in the table with 12 points. Roma dropped to seventh place after losing their game on matchday 6.

Juventus, with their fourth draw so far this season, dropped to eighth place in the table, but they are only 4 points behind first place, so a winning streak could send them to the top of the table.

In the overall standings, there are no surprises, Monza managed to get their first point in the first division of Calcio after a draw this matchday. Sampdoria with a new defeat sinks further in the table and Cremonese drew again and could not get out of the relegation zone.

Moneyline odds: Juventus -243 / Salernitana +660 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs: +380

Juventus’ second-half reaction was not enough to complete an excellent comeback against an opponent that is far inferior to them, Salernitana, and they ended up drawing 2-2, after a controversy caused by a goal badly disallowed by the VAR, which could have given them the victory in this match.

La Vecchia Signora, a team that is missing players such as Di Maria and Chiesa, and also missing Pogba, is starting to make too many excuses. Juventus’ performances in the last few games have been very irregular, leaving many gaps in the game that have hurt them greatly at this start of the season.

In this match, Salernitana was vastly superior in the first half, showing a bold and courageous game that triggered both goals. In the second half, Juventus tried to turn the score around and, with goals from Bremer and Bonucci, managed to equalize to add another draw to their early season record.

The match was marked by controversial refereeing decisions, which led to the sending off of Milik, Cuadrado, and coach Allegri for Juventus, as well as Federico Fazio for Salernitana.

Result: Juventus (2) – (2) Salernitana

Serie A Matchday 6 – Preview – Spezia vs. Napoli – Info

When: Saturday, September 10 at 09:00 am ET.

Moneyline odds: Spezia +920 / Napoli -380 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs: +520

Napoli, as it happens from time to time at the beginning of the season, had a very difficult and unexpected match against an opponent that did not seem to have much to prove, Spezia, especially after having beaten Liverpool 4-1 in the midweek match.

Il Partenopei struggled to get into a rhythm in this game and was without the injured Osimhen. Luciano Spaletti made 5 changes from the team that thrashed Liverpool and they had a bad effect; they did not have a good display of soccer and had very few scoring chances in the first half.

So complicated was the game for Napoli that in the 72nd minute they almost conceded 0-1 through a good move by Kiwior, in which Rahmani had to play the hero to keep the ball out of the goal.

However, in the final stretch of the match, Napoli was able to corner Spezia, and finally, in the 89th minute, they managed to score the goal that would give them the victory thanks to a good play by Giacomo Raspadori who sent the ball into the back of the opponent’s goal.

Result: Spezia (0) – (1) Napoli

Serie A Matchday 6 – Preview – Inter vs. Torino – Info

When: Saturday, September 10 at noon ET.

Moneyline odds: Inter -219 / Torino +560 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs: +370

Inter keeps on winning in the last minutes of the matches. As in the opening match against Lecce, Inzaghi’s men took the three points just a few minutes before the end, this time thanks to Brozovic’s goal.

Il Neroazurri were once again in agony this weekend in Serie A when they were surprised by a Torino that played very well in defense and left very little space for them to take damage. Undoubtedly, one of the important figures in this match was Handanovic; who was in charge of keeping his goal intact for his team to reach the end of the match with options.

In the second half, Inter reacted and Barella and Calanhoglu were able to generate some chances, but the lack of effectiveness prevented them from scoring a goal.

When everything seemed to end in a draw, Inter managed to score the winning goal with a play between Barella and Brozovic in the 89th minute.

Torino fans now cry on their pillow seeing their impressive start dissolve. However, truth be told, they played fairly well on a complicated ground and deserved the win for moments.

Result: Inter (1) – (0) Torino

Serie A Matchday 6 – Preview – Sampdoria vs. Milan – Info

When: Saturday, September 10 at 02:45 pm ET.

Moneyline odds: Sampdoria +500 / Milan -161 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Milan also had to suffer a bit too much in their visit to Sampdoria, but they managed a very good victory thanks to goals from Messias at the start of the first half and Giroud at the start of the second half, with a final score of 2-1.

The reigning champions are now co-leaders with Napoli and are still top contenders to retain the Serie A title.

Milan started the match with the desire to solve it as soon as possible and, in the 6th minute, Messias scored his team’s first goal. From that moment on, they went on top of Sampdoria generating different goal opportunities, which ended up in the hands of the rival goalkeeper.

In the second half, I Rossoneri soon found themselves in trouble they had not expected. And doubly so. First, Leao was sent off for a second yellow card and then Djuricic scored the equalizer with a header at the near post.

But, 10 minutes later, Milan managed to put the scoreboard in final figures thanks to the penalty converted by Oliver Giroud to win 2-1.

Result: Milan (2) – (1) Sampdoria
