The Premier League matchday 36 came to its end yesterday when Liverpool put Leicester with one foot into the Championship. The protagonist of one of the greatest football fairytales in recent memory is having a sad downfall. External issues, bad recruiting, and questionable decisions from the board have left the team in a dire situation, and we could be left without one of the greatest animators of English football outside the top six in the last decade.
However, that wasn’t the only remarkable result of the weekend, so let’s go through some of them.

Newcastle seemed to have one foot and a half in the Champions League. However, their form is faltering at the worst possible time, with a Liverpool that comes like a train looking at the third spot with thirsty eyes. The Magpies started on the wrong foot with a goal from Luke Ayling at the beginning of the match. Lucky for them, they managed to turn things around as Wilson was sharp from the penalty spot twice to give them the comeback.
In the end, Rasmuss Kristensen took advantage of clumsy defending inside the area after a corner to put definitive numbers to the match. Newcastle couldn’t take advantage of Firpo’s red card, as it was too late to give them many advantages.
On the Lillywhites’ side, they are improving little by little under Allardyce and the hope remains.

Everton Proposed a physical and harsh counter-attack game, the same one that put Brighton against the ropes. Poor old Arsenal confirmed its title hopes are gone after getting steam-rolled by the Seagulls at their home. Mikel Arteta’s squad never looked comfortable, and the team from the South Coast had them pretty much controlled.
In the second half, a center to the small area was capitalized by Julio Enciso, who took advantage of Kiwior’s naivety, as the Polish man collapsed to the ground after a little stomp and leave him alone. The Gunners finally crumbled at the end of the match and allowed two more goals.

Aston Villa gave a massive step toward its European Cup dream after defeating a beaten Tottenham team. The Villians dominated the match from one end to another and, in the few mistakes they made, Martínez resisted heroically between the three posts to save his goal.
Ramsey hit early and David Luiz put definitive numbers at Villa Park. In the end, “Dibu” made a mistake that tarnished his performance a little and committed a penalty over Harry Kane. The English man converted, but it was too late for a comeback.
