Last Updated on August 18, 2022 2:23 pm by Erwin Noguera

Liga MX continues its progress in this 2022 opening tournament and has just finished Matchday 9, so we are at the beginning of the second half of the tournament and teams are already thinking about the fact that they have to score as many points as possible to advance to the playoffs or Liguilla.

Toluca remains at the top of the standings after drawing its match against MonterreyTigres returned to winning ways and is gradually closing in on first place.

Club América continues its excellent momentum and is already fifth in the overall standings with 3 consecutive victories. Puebla and Pachuca have not been able to return to winning ways and are already in danger of losing their place in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Querétaro, Guadalajara, and Cruz Azul are still in terrible shape and, if they do not change their approach to the game, they could be saying goodbye once and for all to this tournament.

The current two-time champion of Mexican soccer, Atlas, continues without finding its rhythm of play, has not been able to have a winning streak, and, right now, is out of the positions that grant a pass to the playoffs. Although the table is very tight, they only have a few rounds left to get back on track.

Toluca looked like they could take the victory in this match and even more so after taking the lead in the 27th minute with a very good goal by Leonardo Fernández López. From this point on, the Red Devils took control of the ball and the game, but despite this, they were unable to generate many scoring chances.

América continues to be unbeatable. On Wednesday, they demonstrated their current high level of play by beating Pachuca 3-0 to reach their fourth win in the tournament, the third in a row, after a complicated start to the Apertura 2022.

At the Hidalgo Stadium, the team coached by Tano Ortiz gave a blow to the table by beating the home team from start to finish, thanks to goals from Alejandro Zendejas, Jonathan Rodríguez, and Henry Martín.

Pachuca, on the other hand, had to row against the current after being left at a numerical disadvantage following the red card given to the Ecuadorian Romario Obarra at the end of the first half. They never found any fluency in their play and ended up empty-handed.

With this result, América continues to climb positions and is now in fifth place, just one behind Tijuana. Meanwhile, Pachuca continues to lose important positions and is now in eighth place.

Uruguayans Facundo Batista and Agustín Oliveros each scored a goal to give Necaxa a 2-2 draw away to Puebla on Tuesday in the ninth round of the Apertura 2022 in Mexican soccer.

True be told, Puebla’s players searched and insisted until the first goal fell in their favor, courtesy of Martín Barragán, who broke his team’s streak of 175 minutes without scoring at home.

At the start of the second half, Batista equalized with an excellent goal. In the 64th minute, Puebla turned the score around and took the lead with a great goal by Jordi Cortizo, which seemed to be the definitive blow for Puebla to get out of the bad moment they are in.

After this result, Necaxa is in sixth place in the table, while Puebla is in seventh place.
