Diego Valdés Contreras is a Chilean soccer player who was born on January 30, 1994, in Santiago. Valdés plays in midfield and currently plays for one of the most popular teams in Liga MX, Club América. On the other hand, Valdés belongs to the Chilean national team since 2015.

First Years

His beginnings were in Audax Italiano “B” a subsidiary team that was in the third division of Chilean soccer in 2012; he played 18 games only in that year, scoring 4 goals. That same year and, after his excellent performances, he was promoted to the first division team and made his debut that same year in a match against Universidad Católica. He entered the field of play in the 77th minute replacing Mauricio Arias.

Diego Valdés spent 5 seasons with Audax Italiano of Chilean soccer. Thanks to his excellent matches he caught the attention of many scouts worldwide. Then, it was announced in 2016 that Valdés was leaving the borders of his country, heading to Liga MX; specifically to Monarcas Morelia, a team that paid a $2 million transfer.

His debut in the Liga MX was immediate, in the very first game of the season he was a starter. But, he did not have a good performance in the game and went out in the 46th minute.

Although Diego has shown himself to be a player who scores goals despite his midfield position, in the national team he has not been able to show it, since, in 19 games he has played, he has only managed to score 1.

Since 2019, Valdés belonged to Santos Laguna, where he consolidated his career and became a recurring player in the Chilean national team. At Santos we were able to observe the excellent level of play of the Chilean, wherein 100 games played, he scored 23 goals and distributed 17 assists.

Then, for the 2022 season, Valdés signed for one of the most popular Mexican teams along with Chivas, and his task will be to be the offensive engine of America, that aspires to go out of its terrible moment.
