André-Pierre Gignac is a naturalized French Mexican footballer who was born in Martigues, France, on December 5, 1985. Gignac plays in the forward position and his current team is the Tigres UANL of the Mexican Soccer League.

His debut was in 2004 when he was signed by Lorient in Ligue 2. He remained for three seasons in this team and, in the 2006-2007 season with Lorient promoted to Ligue 1; he was the top scorer of his team with 9 goals in 37 games played.

The following season, Gignac signed a 4-year contract with Toulouse, a team with which he was the league’s top scorer in his debut season. In 2010, his contract with Toulouse ended and Gignac finished his career for this club as their top scorer in Ligue One history with 34 goals, a figure that was later surpassed in 2014 by Wissam Ben Yedder.

Later, in August 2010, Andre-Pierre was transferred to Marseille. He was one of the team’s greatest offensive references and managed to obtain; 2 League Cups, 1 French Super Cup, and 2 runners-up in Ligue 1. In these 5 years, Gignac managed to score 77 goals in 186 games.

At the international level, Andre-Pierre made his debut for the French senior team in April 2009 against Lithuania. His first goal was that same year against the Faroe Islands. Gignac went to the South Africa 2010 World Cup, where he participated in the 3 matches that France played and was part of the team that was runner-up in Euro 20216.
