Belmont Derby Invitational: Predictions & Picks

Belmont Derby Invitational: Predictions & Picks

This race was first introduced to the North American racing calendar in 2019 as part of the ‘Turf Trinity’ but has been run since the early 1900s. While it may not be as popular as the more notable Triple Crown races, it’s still one of the greats. The prize purse for this race is a rather hefty $1 million, so as you might expect, it attracts some pretty competitive and high-profile horses. We’ll also see some of the highest-paid jockeys.

Our main predictions for the event:

Of all the horses potentially competing in this year’s race, Hard Love is one of the most likely to win. This horse is racing regularly at the moment, which shows that the horse is fit and healthy. Of the last 4 races, Hard Love has taken the win in 3 of them, but that’s not the only reason Hard Love is one of the number one predictions for the Belmont Derby Invitational. When you look at the list of other horses that may also be running, Hard Love is trained by Jonathan Thomas, the only trainer who has already managed to win this event. He managed to do this in 2018 with Catholic Boy—proving that Hard Love has a trainer who understands how to win in this race in his corner.

If you don’t want to play too extreme and bet on a Hard Love win, you can always bet on a “place” bet. Naturally, it can be challenging to predict which horse will eventually cross the line in the leading position in such big horse races. This is where alternatives such as “place” and even “round trip bets” come in handy, as they provide a slightly wider net when looking for a win in horse racing betting.
