We are entering the 16th week of the NFL season, and even if there is a lot of focus on the playoffs picture, we are focused on the clash between the Jaguars and Raiders.
The Malosos come from losing their tenth straight game against the Falcons, having the worst streak in the NFL.
The Jags lost against the Jets, failing to build on their recent win over the Giants.
This might be a matchup between two already-eliminated squads, but it is one that will have major implications on the 2025 NFL Draft order, as the number one pick is in play.
Actual tanking may not outright exist in the NFL, but a win for either of these eliminated squads doesn’tdoany help for their draft position. Their QBs, Jones, and either O’Connell or Desmond Ridder, are all auditioning for future playing time… meaning you’ll get the best they got, for what that’s worth, In what we expect to be an interesting clash on this 16th week.

Why bet on the Raiders?
The hosting Raiders are at a record of 2-12, and they currently would hold the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Six other NFL teams have a record of 3-11 or worse, creating an interesting dynamic. However, The team is trying to finish on a high note, and we don’t think they will be tanking for the pick.
The Raiders have not hit 20 points in any of their last five games and are coming off a season-low nine-point outing.
They simplyaren’t a good football team, as trailing by double digits in all 14 games proves. But they can battle back, as seen in a win at Baltimore in Week 2 and close losses against Kansas City and last week against Atlanta.Â
On defense, the Raiders are starting to shut down as elimination is confirmed. Maxx Crosby’s season-ending ankle surgery makes him one of several Raiders defensive starters on the injured reserve. On offense, running back Sincere McCormick (ankle) has also gone on IR, opening the door back up for Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah.
Why bet on the Jaguars?
The 3-11 Jacksonville Jaguars are now without Trevor Lawrence (shoulder surgery) for the remainder of the season, making it Mac Jones’ team now. Las Vegas may get Aidan O’Connell back under center this week after he missed last week’s 15-9 loss on Monday Night Football.
Mac Jones is coming off a season-high 294 passing yards in a loss where the Jags scored 25 points — their highest point total in nearly two months.
Some new Jaguars are taking massive strides on offense. Rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has been the constant producer with a team-high 956 receiving yards, nearly triple of any other Jaguars pass-catcher.
Sophomore tight end Brenton Strange hauled in 11 catches for 73 yards last week in his first start since replacing the injured Even Engram.
Strange has an AC joint sprain but will be good to play Sunday, per head coach Doug Pederson. Amidst this offensive production last week, Jacksonville still fell 32-25 to the Jets.
Final Betting Analysis: Raiders vs. Jaguars
The Jags are 1-9 in their last ten road games, the Raiders are 0-10 in their last ten games overall. It’s about as ugly as it gets, but recent history does give Jacksonville an edge.Â
The last two meetings between these teams have been decided by a touchdown or less, and with the betting odds sitting where they are, we should be in for another close game in the AFC.
While they’re underdogs on the line, we give the slight edge to the Jaguars due to having more weapons on the offensive side of the ball and an experienced starter in Mac Jones under center. Go for the UNDER.
Go for a win for the visitors at 1.833. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $83.3 for a total payout of $183.3.
