This weekend, the world’s top golfers will gather at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Bay Hill, Florida, to compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational pres. by Mastercard, a Signature Event on the PGA Tour.
The tournament will take place from March 6 to 9 on this par-72, 7,466-yard course at the private golf resort located in the suburbs of Orlando.
Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will aim to retain his title and secure his third victory on this course.
The all-time leader in wins at this event is Tiger Woods, who has claimed the title eight times—the only golfer to have won it more than twice.
Nine of the world’s top 10 golfers are set to compete, though no player has managed to repeat a tournament victory so far in 2025.

Arnold Palmer Invitational pres. by Mastercard 2025 Top Contenders
We’ve arrived at another Signature Event, and Scottie Scheffler is the clear favorite. The world number one is the defending champion, having won this tournament for the second time last year. He has yet to claim a victory in 2025, making this a great opportunity to open his trophy collection.
Scheffler last competed at The Genesis Invitational in mid-February, finishing third, just three strokes behind Ludvig Åberg. So far this year, he has played two other tournaments, placing ninth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and 25th at the WM Phoenix Open—securing a Top 10 finish in both Signature Events he has played.
Second on this list is Rory McIlroy. In 2025, he competed in two of the three Signature Events on the Tour PGA, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with a score of 267 (-21) and finishing 17th at The Genesis Invitational.
That Pebble Beach win marked his 27th PGA Tour title, and his resume includes an Arnold Palmer Invitational victory in 2018—during an unusual stretch where five consecutive non-American players won the tournament. This will be McIlroy’s fourth event of the year, as he also played in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour, where he finished fourth.
Lastly, we have Ludvig Åberg. The Swedish golfer is coming off a win at the latest Signature Event, The Genesis Invitational, edging out Maverick McNealy by one stroke. It was Åberg’s second PGA Tour title, following his 2023 victory at The RSM Classic.
Åberg has also delivered strong performances this year, finishing fifth at The Sentry, though he struggled at the Farmers Insurance Open (42°) and withdrew from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Now it’s Xander Schauffele’s turn. He is one of the world’s top golfers and proved it last year by winning two Majors (PGA Championship and The Open Championship). However, in 2025, he has only played The Sentry (30th place) due to a rib injury, but he is now fully recovered and ready to compete for his 10th career title.
Also on this list is Hideki Matsuyama. The 2021 Masters champion started the year strong by winning The Sentry, but he hasn’t secured a Top 10 finish in any of the other tournaments he’s played since. His last appearance was at The Genesis Invitational, where he finished 13th.
Finally, let’s talk about Collin Morikawa, a golfer to watch. His last victory came in 2023 at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, but in 2025, he was runner-up at The Sentry and finished 17th in both Signature Events he’s played this season. It’s time for him to lift another trophy.
