The Clausura Season has arrived in the Liga MX, and the teams are ready to start their new campaigns. For one of the opening matches, we get a rematch from the last Liguilla’s Quarterfinals as San Luis and Tigres meet again on the field.
The Potosinos advanced to the Semifinals and were obliterated by Monterrey after taking the Felines out.
The Regiomontanos were one of the favorites, considering they were the last champions before the era of dominance by América began. However, their form started to falter towards the end of the regular season, and they ended up eliminated in the Liguilla at the first time of asking.

Por que apostar em San Luis?
The locals had an excellent performance on the first leg of the past Quarterfinals and managed to tie in the Universitario Stadium to make their way to the Semifinals. Once there, they couldn’t get past Monterrey, but this is the second semifinal in a short amount of time for a team that has been growing over the years. With each semester passing, they get farther from the tag of being one of the worst teams in Liga MX.
San Luis managed to end the previous regular season as the 6th placed team on the board, with a record of nine wins, three draws, and five defeats. They made the Alfonso Lastras stadium into a fortress and, as a standout point, were the only team capable of beating Cruz Azul in the round-robin, rolling over the Cementeros with a 3-1 score in Potosí.
In the postseason, the emotions were flying after another remarkable result, a 3-0 steamroll over Tigres that allowed them to reach the semis. Once there, they managed to beat Monterrey in the first leg but collapsed to the pressure in “La Sultana del Norte” and got destroyed 5-1 in front of the Regios fans.

Tigres is looking to get back at San Luis for taking them out of the Liguilla. Apart from that, the team had a pretty good performance during the regular season, with ten wins, four draws, and three losses. They expect to, at least, maintain their level.
The main issue for this team is that they will start the season as visitors in a stadium that was a nightmare to play at last semester, so the team cannot allow the offseason hangover to get the better of them.
Since winning the Clausura 2023 from the playoffs, the Felines have not failed to reach the top six and thus never participated in the Play-In. They hope to keep it that way and get directly to the Quarterfinals again, although we have seen some teams losing rhythm after their rest following the regular season close.
