Clausura MX Fem 2025: Liguilla Quarterfinals First Leg Preview

Atlas

The real excitement of the Clausura MX Fem 2025 kicks off this week as the tournament heads into the quarterfinal stage.

The most attractive and possibly the most evenly matched series will be the Monterrey derby between Tigres and Rayadas, which promises plenty of excitement.

Tournament leaders América will face Juárez, the lowest-ranked team among the eight qualifiers. Pachuca, led by top scorer Charlyn Correa, will take on Atlas, while Guadalajara against Pumas also promises to be a tight matchup.

It’s worth noting that the quarterfinal pairings are set as first vs. eighth, second vs. seventh, and so on. The higher-seeded team will play the second leg at home, and in case of an aggregate draw, they will advance to the semifinals. VAR will be used for these matches.

Atlas finished the regular season in seventh place with 28 points after nine wins, one draw, and seven losses. They scored 30 goals and conceded 22, and they come into the playoffs in great form with three straight wins, netting nine goals and allowing just one. Costa Rican striker María Paula Salas scored seven of those nine goals, so she’s heading into the postseason highly motivated.

Pachuca finished second with 38 points, winning 11 matches, drawing five, and losing just one — against Toluca. They scored 40 goals, 21 of which came from Charlyn Correa, an incredible tally for the 33-year-old Mexican forward, who failed to score in only five of the 17 matches. However, she has just one goal in her last three appearances — the only goal Pachuca scored during that stretch. The ‘Tuzas’ already defeated Atlas on the road earlier this season (2-3).

Juárez secured the last playoff spot by finishing eighth with 26 points after seven wins, five draws, and five losses. The ‘Bravas’ scored the fewest goals (21) and conceded the most (23) among the quarterfinalists. They’re coming off a heavy 5-0 loss to Cruz Azul and have only one win in their last six matches, though they did manage a 1-1 draw against the ‘Águilas.’

América was the top team in the Liga MX Feminina regular season with 41 points, thanks to 13 wins, two draws, and two losses. Their 60 goals scored were the most in the league, while their 14 goals conceded made them the third-best defense. The ‘Águilas’ will have to cope with the absence of their top scorer, Daniela Espinosa (9 goals), who suffered an injury and will be out for several months. They lost their last match against Toluca (4-3), snapping a three-game winning streak and a 10-game unbeaten run.

Juárez vs. América Betting Pick: América

Clausura MX Fem 2025 Quarterfinals First Leg: Guadalajara vs. Pumas

Guadalajara didn’t have the strongest finish, but they secured a comfortable spot in the quarterfinals. They finished sixth with 30 points, and while their offense wasn’t the most effective (28 goals scored), they had the best defense in the tournament, allowing just 10 goals. In fact, these two teams faced each other in the last round and drew 0-0. Chivas has been winless in their previous two matches but have only conceded one goal in their last four.

Pumas had a great tournament and an excellent finish. Their 37 points earned them third place, with 11 wins, four draws, and two losses. They scored 36 goals and conceded just 13, making them the second-best defense. As mentioned, they faced Guadalajara last week and showed why they’re two of the strongest defensive teams by drawing goalless. Pumas are unbeaten in their previous eight games, with five wins, and haven’t lost on the road since their first away match — that’s eight straight without defeat, although three of their last four have ended in draws.

We have another Monterrey derby and a rematch of last tournament’s final. Tigres, who lost that final on penalties, is looking to eliminate their fiercest rival — and they’ve got the tools to do it. Back in February, they crushed Rayadas 1-5 on the road. With 41 goals scored and just 14 conceded, they’ve had a strong campaign. Lizbeth Ovalle leads the way with 11 goals, although she’s now gone four games without scoring and has just one in her last seven. Tigres are winless in their previous four matches, with two draws and two losses.

Monterrey, the current champion of Mexican women’s football, aims to defend its crown. They finished fourth and held the tiebreaker advantage. They come into this one after a 2-0 win over León and are on a five-game unbeaten run, including four wins. They’ve scored the same number of goals as Tigres but have conceded more (23). Christina Burkenroad is the team’s top scorer with eight goals, including three in her last two matches.
