Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira, mais conhecido como Danilo, is a Brazilian footballer who was born in the city of salvador, Brasil, on April 19, 2001. He plays as a midfielder and currently plays for Palmeiras, the current leader of Brasileirão Série A.
Danilo is one of the best midfielders in the Brasileirão. This 2022 has been his season of consolidation, where he is one of the players in the Brazilian championship who has recovered the most balls. Although he is not a player with an imposing presence; his enormous strength and defensive capacity have been his main weapons.
Danilo is a technically excellent pivot who, despite his youth, is very aware of the tactical role he plays. He brings defensive balance and pressure.
Primeiros anos
His beginnings were at his hometown club, Bahia. He played there until he was released by the team in 2017 when he was 16 years old. He then had a brief stint at PFC Cajazeiras e Jacuipense.
Em 2018, Danilo ingressou Palmeiras’ U-17 affiliate. Thanks to his good performances and, advancing according to Palmeiras’ youth setup he became a starter on the U-20 team; just before being called up to the first team. Only 2 years later after joining Palmeiras, Danilo made his first-team debut as a substitute in his team’s victory against Red Bull Bragantino.
On September 10, 2020, the total purchase by Palmeiras was official, signing a good 5-year contract with this prestigious Brazilian club. His first goal as a professional was on December 2 of the same year, scoring the fifth goal in Palmeiras’ 5-0 victory over Delfin SC no Copa Libertadores da América.
Danilo dos Santos’ Present
Agora mesmo, Danilo is in the sights of several important clubs in Europa. Also, to a large extent, this was thanks to the excellent match he played in the final of the Mundial de Clubes contra Chelsea, where he had a formidable game even though his team did not take the victory.
Thanks to his excellent performance in Brazilian soccer and in the international competitions that Palmeiras has, Danilo has gradually earned a place among those called up for the Brazilian senior national team. One of the teams that would be fond in acquiring Danilo é Barcelona, in addition to some Premier League teams. His transfer to Europe would be around 20-25 million euros.
