Matchday 32 of the Premier League has come to an end, and Liverpool moved much closer to the title after their win and Arsenal’s slip-up.
It wasn’t easy for the ‘Reds,’ but they managed to beat West Ham 2-1 with a late goal, while the ‘Gunners’ were held to a draw at home by Brentford, allowing Liverpool to extend their lead.
Nottingham Forest is starting to raise concern after another loss, this time at home to Everton, while Newcastle and Manchester City both won. Chelsea, on the other hand, drew with almost-relegated Ipswich and dropped to sixth place.
However, something positive happened for the Premier League last week: thanks to Arsenal’s win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, England secured an additional spot in the European competition due to the league coefficient. Now, the top five teams will qualify for the Champions League, the sixth-place finisher and the FA Cup winner will go to the Europa League, and the seventh will head to the Conference League—unless Newcastle, the Conference League champion, drops below seventh in the standings.
Considering that Manchester City and Nottingham Forest will play in the FA Cup final, it’s likely that sixth and seventh will go to the Europa League and eighth to the Conference League.

In what could have been Kevin De Bruyne’s last big performance in a blue jersey, Manchester City came from behind and thrashed Crystal Palace 5-2 to climb to fifth place, pushing Chelsea down.
The ‘Eagles,’ having a great season, looked set to pull off a shock at the Etihad, opening the scoring in the 8th minute through Eberechi Eze, who tapped the ball in after a cross from Ismaïla Sarr. Then, in the 21st minute, Chris Richards made it 0-2 with a header from a corner kick.
De Bruyne got City back into the match with a brilliant free-kick goal in the 33rd minute, and just three minutes later, Omar Marmoush equalized with a strike inside the box.
Right at the start of the second half, Mateo Kovačić turned the game around with a shot from the edge of the area. In the 56th minute, a long ball from Ederson landed at the feet of James McAtee, who dribbled past the keeper and slotted home for 4-2. Nico O’Reilly sealed the scoreline in the 79th minute.

Arsenal 1.56 | Brentford 6.06 | Empate: 4.48 |
Arsenal is starting to shift its focus away from the Premier League and toward the Champions League after a 1-1 draw against Brentford, a result that opens the door for Liverpool to secure the title.
Mikel Arteta fielded a mixed lineup at the Emirates, clearly thinking ahead to the upcoming trip to Spain to face Real Madrid, but the result didn’t go as planned. Despite the ‘Gunners’ playing a solid match and creating many chances, they couldn’t take all three points.
The opening goal came in the 61st minute after a Brentford corner. David Raya quickly launched a counterattack that ended with a brilliant run from Declan Rice, who laid the ball off to Thomas Partey, and the Ghanaian calmly finished to make it 1-0.
In one of the few clear chances for the ‘Bees,’ Yoane Wissa struck inside the box to level the score at 1-1 in the 74th minute, and the result held until the final whistle.
Arsenal remains second in the table with 63 points, trailing Liverpool by 13, while Brentford sits 11th with 43 points.

Liverpool 1,33 | West Ham 9.55 | Empate: 5.8 |
Liverpool struggled but managed to recover and secure a 2-1 victory over West Ham, moving very close to clinching the title with six matchdays remaining in the Premier League.
It didn’t seem like it would be a tough match for the ‘Reds,’ as they opened the scoring just 18 minutes in with a cross from Mohamed Salah on the right that found Luis Díaz completely unmarked —the Colombian tapped the ball in.
Arne Slot’s side couldn’t extend the lead, and the ‘Hammers’ found the equalizer late in the game, in the 86th minute, after a miscommunication between Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson resulted in a clumsy own goal by the Scottish defender.
However, the Dutch captain quickly redeemed himself, scoring the winning goal just minutes later in the 89th with a header from a corner kick.
Liverpool now sits at 76 points, 13 ahead of Arsenal, while West Ham is in 17th place, still 14 points clear of Ipswich, which remains in the relegation zone.

Newcastle continues its fight for a spot in the next Champions League and secured a great 4-1 win over a Manchester United side that keeps sinking in the standings, practically saying goodbye to European competition.
The ‘Magpies’ were far superior and took the lead in the 24th minute with a great goal by Sandro Tonali after an incredible control and pass from Alexander Isak.
Despite what was happening on the pitch, the ‘Red Devils’ managed to equalize in the 37th minute with a low shot from Alejandro Garnacho that hit the post and went in.
In the second half, just after the restart, Harvey Barnes put Newcastle ahead again by tapping in a ball after a great cross from Jacob Murphy. In the 64th minute, Barnes extended the lead after recovering the ball following a slip from Noussair Mazraoui, advancing several meters and finishing brilliantly.
The final 4-1 came in the 77th minute due to a mistake by goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who was starting in place of André Onana due to his frequent errors. The Turkish keeper tried to clear the ball but sent it straight to Joelinton’s head, who then assisted Bruno Guimarães for a samba-flavored goal.
Newcastle is now in fourth place with 56 points and a game in hand, while Manchester United sits 14th with just 38 points.
