The current favorites are Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, both with +110 odds. This follows in line with previous years, as quarterbacks have won MVP honors in seven out of the last eight Super Bowls. For example, Patrick Mahomes was +110 to win MVP for Super Bowl LIV and went on to take home that honor.
Other players with good odds include Travis Kelce, A.J. Brown, Devonta Freeman and Devonta Smith.
While these players may not be as likely to win as Mahomes or Hurts, they could still provide good value if you’re looking for a longer shot bet.
Updated Super Bowl MVP Odds
Patrick Mahomes (+117)
With Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ incredible track record, it is unsurprising to see him heading into Super Bowl LV as the favorite to win MVP. While he may be feeling pressure from the other competitors, it’s nothing compared to what he has experienced in the past. The biggest knock against Mahomes on Sunday is that he may be hindered by a lingering ankle injury and playing without some key players on his offense. If the Chiefs are able to overcome these obstacles for a Super Bowl victory, Mahomes will almost certainly be crowned MVP.
Jalen Hurts (+121)
It was no secret that there were some skeptics early on this season when it came to Jalen Hurts being the answer at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. However, it is now widely accepted that he is an essential part of the Eagles’ success. After Hurts missed two games due to injury during the regular season, Philly lost both outings. Should they win Super Bowl LV, it would be fair to speculate that Hurts will be at the forefront and leading them to victory.
Travis Kelce (+1250)
If you’re banking on Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce to win the MVP at Super Bowl LV, you’re going against the grain. No tight end has ever been named MVP in the championship game before, yet Kelce is no ordinary player and could be the first to do so. Considering there are questions surrounding the health of some Chiefs receivers, Mahomes will be counting on Kelce heavily – which could make him a viable bet if you’re looking to take a risk.
A.J. Brown (+1600)
Taking a chance on Eagles wide receiver Marquise Brown to receive MVP honors is a risky choice, considering his stats have dropped off in the playoffs when compared to the regular season. That being said, Philly has been relying heavily on the running game during post-season play, so if they open up the offense in Super Bowl LV, Brown will most likely be Mahomes’ primary target.
With all that in mind, it’s time to make a pick. Not an electrifying one, but something safe; Mahomes is definitely the favorite here. He’s simply too valuable – with his ability to completely change games – and his experience in big moments makes him a worthy bet for MVP.
Devonta Smith (+3000)
Devonta Smith is one of the top contenders for Super Bowl MVP in 2023. According to the latest odds, he has the sixth-best odds to win MVP and fourth-best odds among Eagles players, behind Travis Kelce, AJ Brown and Miles Sanders. Smith’s odds are currently +3000, making him a dark horse candidate for MVP. His performance in the postseason has been solid so far with eight receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns in two games. With his impressive stats, Smith could be a surprise winner of Super Bowl MVP if he continues to play at this level.
Haason Reddick (+6600)
Haason Reddick is currently a dark horse candidate to win Super Bowl MVP at +6600 odds. Despite his long-shot status, Reddick has been impressive this season and has been making plays all over the field. He leads the Cardinals in tackles with 47 as well as sacks, with 11.5 total on the season. Additionally, he recorded four interceptions and two touchdowns this year. His performance in the postseason has also been notable so far, racking up several sacks and tackles. If he continues to dominate games the way he has this season, Reddick could be a surprise winner of Super Bowl MVP in 2023.
