This Saturday, June 04, 2022, we had an incredible night in Las Vegas, in the UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Rozenstruik, where there were incredible fights from the co-features to the main fight, where Volkov hit the table to take a very good victory over the Surinamese Rozenstruik.
Alexander Volkov came to this fight after being defeated three months ago by Tom Aspinal, in a fight in which he was dominated and, likewise, he recognized it after finishing it. That greatness and that honesty are the main virtues of an excellent fighter and, thanks to that, he came with a lot of confidence for this fight.
Volkov is at a turning point in his UFC career and this victory gave him a second wind of hope to try to fight again for the championship belt. Rozenstruik was an extremely dangerous opponent, a fighter with whom you can’t make any kind of mistakes if you don’t want to pay for it lying on the canvas.
UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Rozenstruik
One of the most anticipated matchups in the UFC right now was, without a doubt, this one between Volkov vs. Rozenstruik, two of the best heavyweights in the world who could easily be fighting for the championship belt in the coming weeks.
The fight began with both fighters being very careful, analyzing their opponent’s movements and attacking only with kicks to the calf and a few punches to the face. The main objective of each was to be out of the reach of the opponent’s blows.
When the fight was approaching the third minute, both fighters began to aggressively attack each other and Volkov was the first to land one of his blows effectively on Rozenstruik’s jaw, which began to generate serious consequences for the South American’s humanity. This blow made Jairzinho lose his balance and, automatically, Volkov went on top of him and began to dish out many blows until the main referee, Herb Dean, stopped the fight and gave the Russian Volkov the victory.
UFC Fight Night: Ige vs. Evloev
While it is true that we all know that Dan Ige is one of the best fighters in the featherweight division, from the beginning of this fight, Mosvar Evloev looked far superior to Ige in every way. So much so was Evloev’s dominance over veteran Ige that many insiders of UFC history compared the performance to other fighters spanning 20 years.
The first two rounds were clear victories for Evloev who, with a knee directly to Ige’s face, managed to seriously injure the American and, thanks to this, the fight was turning in his favor.
Already in the last round, we could see that Dan Ige was very tired, and he only had to use the strategy of going to the ground with his opponent, to prevent him from doing more damage in what would be an imminent victory for Evloev. Similarly, the Russian Evloev had two great takedowns in this last round to dominate the American on the ground.
Thanks to all the effort, the judges ruled a unanimous victory for the Russian Evloev who was not among the favorites to win tonight.
UFC Fight Night: Trizano vs. Almeida
One of the best fights that we could witness on this UFC Fight Night was, without a doubt, the one between Michael Trizano and Lucas Almeida. The fight started with everything, both fighters hungry for victory and with tremendous confidence. Before the end of the first round, the young prospect of the featherweight division, Mike Trizano managed to land a hook with his left to Almeida’s face, sending him to the canvas and, as if that were not enough, during the fall Trizano landed a knee in Almeida’s face Although he was about to be knocked out, Almeida was able to hold on and make it through the first round alive.
In the second round the roles were changed, now it was Almeida who had everything to take the victory, and, in the middle of the round, he returned the favor to Trizano also with a left hook sending him to the canvas. Although he nearly won the match via submission, Trizano was able to avoid the chokehold and made it to the final round.
In the last round, Almeida again landed a left hand that again sent Trizano to the canvas, where Almeida got on top of him and began to pummel him until the referee declared the victory by TKO.
UFC Fight Night: Karine Silva vs. Poliana Botelho
This was one of the strangest fights of the night, as both fighters barely hurt each other in the first four minutes of the match. Both Silva and Botelho had their moments when they barely cornered the other, and that was the end of the attack.
With 1 minute left in the round, Karine Silva took control of the fight and decided to go all out against Poliana Botelho. From one moment to another, Silva managed to connect a right hand to Botelho’s face and sent her to the canvas, and then she launched himself on top of her and thus achieved the victory by submission.
UFC Fight Night: Osbourne vs. Adashev
The beginning of the fight had Adashev trying to hurt Osbourne with fast and aggressive attacks, but Osbourne was patiently posing against extraordinary blows, which left Adashev without many options and, little by little, he was giving up their offensives.
After Osbourne realized that Adashev had slowed down their fight, he managed to land a right hook to send Adashev to the canvas and swing on top of him with a barrage of punches to the face, and, they left him no choice to the referee than to stop the fight and give Osbourne the victory.
UFC Fight Night: Menifield vs. Mozharov
Another of the great prospects in his respective division, in this case in the light heavyweight, Alonzo Menifield achieved an excellent victory in the first round against Askar Mozharov, after showing absolute supremacy throughout the fight.
Menifield scored a very early takedown against Mozharov, something that greatly weakened his opponent. He then clearly dominated the next 3 minutes of the fight, mostly in a ground match. Finally, when Mozharov managed to get up and, very weak and tired, Menifield got a second takedown that this time did manage to end with a knockout.
When Mozharov was on the canvas, Menifield landed a series of elbows to his opponent’s face that knocked him unconscious and gave him the TKO victory.
