Dana White’s Contender Series S5, W6 – Fight Card:

As previously mentioned, this fight card has been shaken a few times due to multiple reasons. However, it was going to be a card that featured fight matches, which included:

Shimon Smotritsky vs. Mike Mallot – Welterweight

Daniel Barez vs. Carlos Hernandez – Flyweight

Fernie Garcia vs. Paul Capaldo – Bantamweight (Canceled)

Cody Brundage vs. Shante Barnes – Middleweight (Canceled)

Patrik White vs. Genaro Valdez – Lightweight

Before we go into detail about the current card of 3 Fights, let’s dive into a quick review of the canceled bouts.

The Canceled Bouts

Fernie Garcia vs. Paul Capaldo:

There is little to say about the cancelation of this exciting Bantamweight Fight; the 6-0 undefeated Paul Capaldo showed positive for Covid-19.

The match-up may be currently canceled. Any way the promotion is indeed looking for a replacement opponent for the 9-1Texas Fighter Fernando Garcia.

Shonte Barnes vs. Cody Brundage:

This middleweight match-up was going to be Brundage’s second shot at the DWCS. The last time he being TKO’d was in September 2020, but there was a change of plans in his favor.

Cody Brundage was signed to step in as the replacement fighter to fill the spot and debut against Nick Maximov this weekend at UFC 266.

Fans expect that the Promotion looks for a middleweight replacement to share the Octagon with the 6-1-1 Shonte Barnes.

The Main Card Analysis:

After the Cancelations, we still have an excellent set of Fights that await us on Tuesday 5th.

Fight fans are going in for a treat when the 6th episode of the Dana White Contender Series lands. This as we have a short but stacked card:

Shimon Smotritsky vs. Mike Malott – Main Event – Welterweight:

Headlining DWCS Season 5, Week 6 will be a welterweight bout between the undefeated Shimon Smotritsky (7-0) and Mike Malott who is (6-1).

Smotritsky has competed inside the Bellator cage throughout his pro career, winning both of those appearances.

Smotritsky has finished 4 out of 7 opponents, and when that happens, it is usually early in the fight.

Mallot, who is also a coach at Team Alpha Male, is unbeaten in his last three. This includes a win over Solomon Renfro in his most recent appearance at CFFC 91 in December.

The Canadian fighter has, however, taken all of his 6 victories by finishing his opponents, which means we may get an explosive fight.

Daniel Barez vs. Carlos Hernandez – Flyweight:

The Spanish fighter born in Valencia, Daniel Barez comes with a nice record of 12 wins and 4 losses, a run in which he held the BAMMA Flyweight Championship Title, and recently had successful bouts in Combate Global.

Out of those 12 wins, Barez has been able to finish 9 of his opponents, 4 of them via KO/TKO, and 5 of them by the way of submission, showing a dangerous grappling game.

His opponent, Carlos Hernandez is going through a 6 fight win streak after losing his Pro debut and held the HFC Flyweight Championship Belt before his last match at LFA right before the DWCS Call.

Carlos Hernandez finished 4 of his opponents, all by the way of submission, and he is quite a dangerous opponent to have on your back due to his Rear Naked-Choke.

Patrik White vs. Genaro Valdez – Lightweight:

The opening fight of the evening is going to be an absolute banger when these two lightweights collide in the cage.

On one side, we have the Alaskan fighter, Patrik “Primetime” White who comes into this fight with 9 wins and 1 loss record in his pro career.

White seems to be a pretty dangerous fighter, as he has never needed to meet the judge’s decision, finishing all 9 of his victories via KO/TKO.

His opponent, the undefeated Genaro “Rayadito” Valdez, comes from Tijuana, Mexico, from the same gym as the current UFC Flyweight Champion Brandon Moreno.

Valdez boasts a 9 wins record, and just like White, has finished every single fighter he has met in the cage, 6 via KO/TKO and 3 via Submission.
