The emotions of the 2022 season of the World Surf League continue and, the next event will be, without a doubt, one of the best that we can witness in this first quarter of 2022 since the best surfers in the world will meet in Portugal to try to achieve a victory that puts them on top and being the focus of the best reflectors in world surfing.

The MEO Pro Portugal is a surfing competition that belongs to the WSL calendar that takes place in Peniche, Portugal every year. It was held for the first time in 2009 and was called the Rip Curl Search Portugal.

The 2022 WSL CT season is off to an epic start after completing the first two stops on Oahu’s North Shore in Hawaii. Spectators witnessed the return of 11-time world champion Kelly Slater, who scored his 56th career win at the Billabong Pro Pipeline.

Top 2 Men’s

  • Italo Ferreira

The Brazilian Italo Ferreira has fallen in the world ranking of the CT this 2022 to position #16, due to his two results at the beginning of the year that are not as expected. At the Billabong Pro Pipeline, Ferreira finished #9 and was beaten by Miguel Pupo, while at the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach he finished #17, one of his most disappointing performances in recent years.

  • Filipe Toledo

Filipe Toledo, for his part, has managed to rise to position #7 of the Men’s CT Rank. He has also participated in the same events as Italo Ferreira, the Billabong Pro Pipeline, and the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach where he finished #9 in both events.

Top 2 Women’s

  • Brisa Hennessy

On the other hand, the Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy has started with everything in this new season and is in the #1 position of the Women’s CT 2022. This is thanks to the excellent results achieved throughout the 2021 season and, mainly, for the two obtained in these 3 months of the year. In the Billabong Pro Pipeline, she took fifth place, while in the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach she took first place in the tournament, adding 10,000 points in her ranking.

  • Tatiana Weston-Webb

Finally, the veteran of a thousand battles and always present in these first place surf tournaments, Tatiana Weston-Webb arrives at this event with a lot of confidence and with the desire to return to the top of the WSL world ranking. Tatiana is currently #14 in the Women’s CT 2022.
