We return to the beaches of California and this time we will meet at the Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic. The best longboard surfers in the world will perform on the beaches of Lemoore, California. The event will be held on September 29, 2021.

Immediately after this event, the surfers will once again compete in an ocean competition at the Jeep Malibu Classic. This event will be presented by Havaianas in Malibu. The points obtained in these two competitions will be added with those obtained in last year’s Noosa Longboard Open, to determine who will be the champion (male and female) of the WSL Longboard.

The format of the Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic will be as usual; the 18 best men and 18 best women will face each other in a first phase, where each surfer will have to run two waves to the left and two to the right. Finally, the sum of the best Scores will be what will determine your position in the table. Then, they classify 8 to the semifinals and, later, the final. There would be 1 wave to the left and 1 to the right.

LATAM Contenders – Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic Beach – 2021 Surf – Men’s & Women’s

Top 2 Men’s

  • Rodrigo Sphaier

With 10 years of professional career, the Brazilian Rodrigo Sphaier arrives at this Cuervo Surf Rach Classic, as one of the favorites to take the victory. He currently occupies the # 2 position in the world ranking of Men’s LT published by the WSL.

Sphaier comes from almost 2 years of inactivity, after playing an incredible year in 2019. That time he managed to win the Taiwan Open World Longboard Championships. Thanks to that he added the 10,000 points that allowed him to be at the top of the ranking.

  • Augusto Olinto

Another very good surfer and, also Brazilian, Augusto Olinto arrives at this Cuervo Surf Rach Classic with little activity in recent years. It is that, in 2018 and 2019, he only participated in two important events, the Oi Longboard Pro – RJ (2019) and Noosa Longboard Open (2020). In those two he obtained 13th and 7th place, respectively.

Top 2 Women’s

  • Chloe Calmon

The experienced or veteran Brazilian surfer Chloe Calmon has under her belt a total of 11 years as a professional. Added to this, we can see that, after so long, she’s still at the top of the ranking of the WSL.

Chloe is coming off a great 2019. That year she managed to get 1st place in 4 of the tournaments she participated in. She got on the podium in the others. In the year 2020 very eventful due to the problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, she managed to obtain third place in the Noosa Longboard Open.

  • Kelis Kaleopaa

Finally, we have the best surfer in the world according to the WSL Longboard ranking, Kelis Kaleopaa. While it is true that Kaleopaa is not Latin American, she is one of the favorites to win the trophy in this Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic. The 16-year-old who did not have a good 2019 year, managed to rebound in 2020 winning first place at the Noosa Longboard Open
