Spring Training April 2nd: Braves vs. Yankees

The Atlanta Braves had a disappointing Spring Training. They are now 6-6 with a team batting average of .246.

The spring squad is starting to resemble the roster that will play on Opening Day.

Matt Olson and Adam Duvall, two big hitters, are leading the way.

They already blasted eight RBIs in 17 matches between the two 2021 Braves home run toppers

After a pair of bad performances, the New York Yankees will be aiming to bounce back.

On Wednesday night, they were pounded 11-3 by the Toronto Blue Jays, and on Thursday, they were defeated 5-3 by the Philadelphia Phillies

Despite some heartbreaking defeats, the Yankees are hitting well.

They are, however, plagued by big swingers and, with 129 strikeouts, are among the most struck-out clubs in the Grapefruit League.

Both teams will be attempting to acquire each other’s numbers on Saturday evening because they will not face each other during the regular season.

Even though the Braves are batting well, the Yankees will be keen to reclaim their lost ground.

When they’re at home, they just have more firepower and are far more difficult to beat.

The New York Yankees’ strong bullpen can bail them out if they get into difficulty.

Spring Training April 2nd: Phillies vs. Blue Jays

Last year, the Phillies’ rotation had an earned run average of 4.39, which was good for 19th in the league, and they struck out 1,480 batters.

In the previous season, they walked 509 batters and had a 4.15 FIP as a team.

Pitchers for the Phillies surrendered 200 home runs and 745 runs in total (16th in the league).

The Phillies’ bullpen relievers began the game with 144 runners on base and 165 appearances in high-leverage situations.

Throughout last season, the Toronto Blue Jays had a team OBP of.330 and a team batting average of .266.

They were called out on strikes 1,218 times (thirteenth in MLB) and hit 1,455 batters.

Toronto had 262 long balls and 816 runs batted in, and they also had a .466 team slugging percentage and 5.22 runs per game during the season (3rd in baseball).

They hit 285 two-run home runs, as well as 496 free base hits and 846 runs scored.

At this point in spring practice, the Blue Jays are performing superior baseball and have the advantage of competing at home, while the Phillies are 1-4 on the road.

We believe the Blue Jays, who are on fire right now, will take care of business and beat the Phillies.

Spring Training April 2nd: Dodgers vs. Giants

San Francisco will try to come back after snapping a three-game winning streak with a draw against the Texas Rangers at 7-7 yesterday.

The Giants defeated the San Diego Padres (11-6), the Kansas City Royals (9-5), and the Colorado Rockies at 13-2 in that order before they tied the score versus the Rangers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting ready to bounce back after a 2-8 loss to the Texas Rangers yesterday that ended a two-game winning streak versus the Athletics at 6-4 and the Guardians at 12-1 in that order.

Los Angeles dropped to 13th place at 4-6 in the Cactus League Conference with a team percentage at .400 with 3.5 games behind first-place while scoring 75 runs but also allowing 75 for a run difference at zero this spring training.

The Dodgers will try to get back on the winning track on the way to the regular season and Los Angeles is preparing to grab their fifth win this spring training with a home-field advantage.

Spring Training April 2nd: Cardinals vs. Astros

The St. Louis Cardinals improved their record to 7-5 this spring following their victory over the New York Mets last Friday by 7-2.

This makes it the Cardinals’ second win out of their last five, with the other one coming over the Washington Nationals by an impressive 29-8.

In their most recent outing, Sidney Thomas got the start for St. Louis. The rookie has thrown for 2.0 innings.

The Astros initially had a rough start this year, adding to that the departure of shortstop Carlos Correa, however, Houston still appeared poised and managed to turn the tables when they took on the St. Louis Cardinals the previous month.

Since then, the team has been able to maintain that trend.

In the Marlins’ game, Luis Garcia was selected to start for Houston.

The right-hander pitched for a total of 3.2 innings, with six strikeouts to go along.

This Saturday’s game will be an interesting one as the 2022 spring training comes to a close.

Look for more reserve players and minor leaguers to receive at-bats.

Also, look for St. Louis to emerge victorious against Houston with Wainwright on the mound.
