Matchday 3 of the Premier League ended on the 22nd and brought countless unexpected results; as well as exciting matches that do justice to the best football league in the world.
The Arsenal of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus is the leader of the competition with 9 points, 3 wins, and 9 goals. Manchester City is runners-up with 7 points, as they couldn’t beat Newcastle in the last round, having drawn 3-3 away from home against coach Eddie Howe’s team. Tottenham, reinforced by Richardson, a former Everton striker, is third in the Premier League, with 7 points, followed by Leeds and Brighton, both with the same score.
The bottom of the pitch is looking surprising, with West Ham, Leicester, and Wolves having a really bad time, although they were some of the most competitive teams outside the big 6 in the last seasons. West Ham spent a fortune on a striker and have 0 goals in 3 games, Leicester owners forgot that the transfer window can also be used to bring players in, and the Wolves just keep the string of bad form with which they ended last season. Also, Liverpool with just 2 points is in 16th place.
Premier League Matchday 3
Liverpool suffered one of its worst losses in many years. A Manchester United that looked terrible just a couple of days ago beat them 2-1. However, the most damaging thing is that the Red Devils looked like the better team, knowing what to do, contrary to their rivals. If the Reds don’t take the course soon, things will get complicated with so many teams looking as threatening as ever in the league.
Another surprising result was the 0-3 loss of Chelsea in front of Leeds. The last 9 months have been some of the worst of the Blues in recent years, on and off the pitch, and now they have to add a new humiliation to the growing list in the last period.
Everything indicates, however, that this is Arsenal’s year. The team strengthened itself well in this transfer window and showed very flashy and very competitive football.
Kevin de Bruyne is the Premier League’s best player in the early rounds, helping Manchester City to remain among the best teams in the country.
Let’s take a look at Round 3 results:
- Tottenham 1 x 0 Wolverhampton;
- Crystal Palace 3 x 1 Aston Villa;
- Everton 1 x 1 Nottingham Forest
- Fulham 3 x 2 Brentford;
- Leicester 1 x 2 Southampton;
- Bournemouth 0 x 3 Arsenal;
- Leeds 3 x 0 Chelsea;
- West Ham 0 x 2 Brighton;
