Premier League Matchday 13 - Roundup and Results

Matchday 13 of the Premier League ends with surprises, with the tightest table at the top, and with important changes.

Arsenal stumbled and failed on its visit to Southampton, drawing 1-1 despite going up on the scoreboard. Granit Xhaka scored for the Gunners and Stuart Armstrong for the Saints. Those from London are still in the lead, but now they are only 2 points ahead.

Manchester City took advantage of Arsenal’s tie and beat Brighton 3-1 with a brace from Erling Haaland (17) and a goal from Kevin De Bruyne. Leandro Torssard scored for the Seagulls who are ninth and have not yet been able to win with Roberto De Zerbi.

Chelsea and Manchester United played one of the most attractive games of the weekend and drew 1-1 thanks to a late goal from Casemiro. Jorginho, from a penalty, had overtaken the Blues at minute 87. Both fell one position in the table and now those from London are fifth and those from Manchester sixth.

The big winner of the matchday was Newcastle, who beat Tottenham 1-2 and reached fourth place. Callum Wilson and Miguel Almirón scored for the ‘Magpies’, while Harry Kane did it for the ‘Spurs’, who are third but only with 2 points of difference.

Fulham also got a great win on their visit to Leeds (2-3). Rodrigo had put the hosts ahead, but Aleksandar Mitrovic, Bobby Reid, and Willian turned them around. Crysencio Summerville scored a late goal, but it wasn’t enough.

The big surprise this Saturday was the defeat of Liverpool, who lost at Nottingham against the last in the table, 1-0. Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal. The Reds are 8th with 16 points.

Everton came out strong at home and crushed Crystal Palace 3-0 with goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon, and Dwight McNeil helping them move past their rivals in the table to 11th.

Another of those who passed the steamroller over it was Aston Villa, who in 15 minutes had already scored 3 goals against Brentford and ended up winning 4-0. Danny Ings (2), Leon Bailey, and Ollie Watkins scored the goals for the team that moved away from the relegation places.

Finally, Leicester already has 2 wins in a row and 3 games undefeated after beating Wolverhampton 0-4 with goals from Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, James Madison, and Jamie Vardy (who had not scored since last season). Thanks to this victory, Brendan Rodgers’ team came out of the relegation places.

West Ham and Bournemouth are playing at the moment.
