The matchday 10 of the 2022 Liga MX opening tournament has come to an end and, last weekend, there were several important and, above all, surprising results that made the standings move in all areas.
For the start of Matchday 11, Monterrey will be the sole leader of the general classification table, with one less game played than Toluca. Tigres continues to lie in wait for the first two places, along with América, which continues to be unstoppable, and Santos Laguna, which has also awakened.
First of all, Chivas showed signs of life by crushing Necaxa with a 4-0 score. Querétaro also scored an unexpected victory over Tijuana. In the Mexico City Clasico, América gave Cruz Azul an historic humilation by 7-0.
Finally, Pumas were stunned at home and showed a horrendous level of play as they were crushed by Santos Laguna with a score of 1-5.

As we pointed out in our Liga MX Matchday 10 article, the match between Tigres UANL and Monterrey, which was to be the most evenly matched of the day, ended in a 0-0 draw.
The day that paralyzed the state of Nuevo León had arrived, the Clásico Regio; Tigres and Monterrey faced each other in the 128th edition of this classic.
The main attraction of the first half was a couple of chances by Diente López, which made their rival’s goal tremble but were prevented by great interventions by goalkeeper Sebastián Vargas.
The second half was played under the same tone and, in the 70th minute, Monterrey scored the goal that would give them the advantage, but the main referee signaled offside and annulled the goal.
The match faded and finally ended with a 0-0 draw on the scoreboard. After this draw, Monterrey took advantage of Toluca’s defeat to climb to first place in the table, while Tigres remained in third place, now only 2 points behind first place.

Atlas continues in its bad moment and even though this time they did not lose, they could not boast the return to winning ways, after tying 1-1 against Puebla at the Jalisco Stadium, thanks to the defensive skills of Anderson Santamaría, who became the hero of the match.
The only one who keeps raising his hand and trying to carry Atlas is Julián Quiñones, who scored the equalizer in the 45th minute, just before the end of the first half.
Before that, Puebla had opened the scoring in the 11th minute thanks to Martín Barragán’s goal, applying the law of the ex, since Barragán comes from Atlas youth academy.
After this result, Atlas scored its 9th point out of a possible 30, putting its possible qualification to the playoffs, or at least to the playoff zone, even more in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, Puebla has 13 points and continues to extend its winless streak, which now stands at 8 games, and is in ninth place in the table
Result: Atlas (1) – (1) Puebla

Pachuca returned to winning ways this Sunday in the match that closed day 10 of the Apertura 2022 against León at the Hidalgo Stadium, with a solitary goal in the final minutes by the young homegrown player Israel Luna.
The match began with an intense rhythm, which was diluted as time went by, thanks to the fact that the priority was to defend in the best possible way. The first 45 minutes passed and the teams went to the break with a lackluster goalless draw.
Until the final minutes, the star of the match was León’s goalkeeper, Rodolfo Cota, whose saves had prevented Pachuca from taking the lead.
In the second half, Pachuca’s coach sent on the field young Luna, who scored the winning goal for his team in the 86th minute, the first goal of his professional career.
Result: Pachuca (1) – (0) León
