Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors showed an extremely low level of play this Monday in their visit to the Memphis Grizzlies, who won their fifth straight game and got their ninth victory in their last 10 games, showing why they are the best team in the West, only behind the Phoenix Suns.

The Warriors, currently in third place in the West, already 5 points behind the Grizzlies, offered a very weak image in Memphis. They were crushed in the second quarter; with a score of 43-21 and lost by 37 points in the fourth quarter.

First Quarters

The match started very slow for both teams, with many terrible mistakes by both, and disappointing their respective fans. The first quarter was lackluster, ending with a score of 20-16, favorable to the locals. The Grizzlies only made 7 of their 25 shots. Meanwhile, the Warriors were also not at their best in front of the basket, with 6 of 20 shots made.

The Grizzlies woke up and picked up the pace in the second quarter with Kyle Anderson, Brandon Clarke, and Dillon Brooks stirring up the game and commanding each of their team’s offenses. Meanwhile, Golden State continued to have enormous problems in their attack. They went three and a half minutes without scoring and conceded an alarming run of 16-0; that threatened to take them out of the game before the break.

The result after the first half was overwhelming, with a score of 63-37 the Grizzlies went into the break calm and with a lot of confidence, while it was very painful for the Warriors.

Second Half

The Warriors’ offense woke up after the agonizing level of play shown in the first half and managed to lose a 20-point difference. However, their defense was still unable to stop the Memphis attacks; so the Grizzlies, led by Desmond Bane who scored 10 points in the third quarter, further extend the lead before the fourth quarter to 95-67.

The last quarter was more of the same, the Grizzlies playing in the backyard of their house, with a series of impressive three-pointers, where they came to be placed by a difference of 37 points, while the Warriors, with their heads lowered, resigned themselves to not they had opportunities and that they must fix a lot if they want to make a good presentation in some supposed playoffs.

The Warriors have only won 1 of their last 7 games and, with this new loss, they close a five-game road trip with a 1-4 record before returning home to face the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
