The Brasileirão weekend brought in matchday 27, once again, a lot of emotion and good games. Also, surprisingly, many red cards, a situation that is not part of the characteristics of this tournament.
Palmeiras won again and, this time, against a strong rival (Santos) and by the lowest possible score: 1-0. The leader then regained an advantage of 9 points from the second place, Fluminense, who beat Flamengo by 2-1, in a game of 4 red cards, at Maracanã.
Avaí surprised everyone and beat Atlético Mineiro by 1-0, at the Ressacada stadium, but still couldn’t escape the relegation zone. With the victory, the team equals Coritiba in points (28); and remains alive in the dispute for permanence in the elite of Brazilian football.
São Paulo visited Ceará and finally won (2-0) after 4 matches without scoring more goals than their opponent. Coach Rogério Ceni’s team remained in 13th place after the victory and pushed Ceará to 15th position.
Brasileirão Matchday 27
Corinthians visited América Mineiro and lost 1-0, while Athletico, finalists in the Copa Libertadores, could not get out of the draw with Cuiabá (2-2). Among the 5 best-ranked teams in the league, only Palmeiras and Fluminense won.
Internacional will still have their chance to follow this trend and, if they beat Atlético Goianiense, they can steal the vice-leadership of Fluminense and keep the pursuit of Palmeiras, reducing the leader’s advantage to 8 points.
Juventude managed to draw at home with Fortaleza and remains in the last position of the table, with 19 points.
