Matchday 20 of the Brasileirão Série A could be the beginning of a new era, but everything looked pretty much the same. Palmeiras, Corinthians, and Flamengo won their games, Juventude lost again, Santos tied one more game and Goiás finally beat someone.
Let’s see a few comments about each game and know how the teams are performing in the league.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Ceará 1 x 2 Palmeiras
Ceará (14º) was the host, but Palmeiras scored twice in the first half, making the game almost finished. Ceará could recover in the second half, but they weren’t enough to face this gigantic team, the leader.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Goiás 1 x 0 Coritiba
Goiás (11º) just forgot the three games without winning and finally earned three points in a single game. Coritiba (15º) is far from being a good team when playing away from home. Pedro Raul, one of the top scorers in the league, was the man of the game.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Corinthians 1 x 0 Botafogo
Corinthians (2º) and Botafogo (12ª) didn’t make a beautiful game to watch. Lots of physical contact and a game with a few shots on goal. Gustavo Mosquito pushed Corinthians to win after a beautiful individual play.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Flamengo 4 x 1 Atlético Goianiense
With their second team, Flamengo destroyed Atlético Goianiense in a crowded Maracanã. The Chilean Arturo Vidal made his debut on the first team and scored a goal in a penalty kick, after giving an assist to Marinho.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Internacional 3 x 0 Atlético Mineiro
The most surprising result of the 20th matchday. Internacional proved that, even though they don’t have as many talented players as Atlético, they can compete against any team in the league, if they play solid and efficient football.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Athletico Paranaense 1 x 0 São Paulo
Both teams came up to the field with mixed squads. They are playing in other competitions and rested a lot of players for this game. This choice was more beneficial to Athletico, which played with the support of the black and red crowd and won the game.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: América Mineiro 3 x 1 Avaí
This was an authentic duel to avoid relegation. Both teams were close to the zone of the worst four teams in the league. Winger Everaldo scored twice and put América at the 13th position, while Avaí kept the 16º, just one point ahead of Cuiabá (17º).
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Cuiabá 0 x 1 Fortaleza
Cuiabá has given another life to Fortaleza in the league. They have now 20 points, while Fortaleza has 18 and still dreams to continue in the top-tier division.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Red Bull Bragantino 1 x 0 Juventude
Bragantino could have scored more to win this game easily, but just scored once with the winger Helinho. Juventude is still at the bottom of the table with 16 points.
Brasileirão Matchday 20: Santos 2 x 2 Fluminense
Games at Pele’s Stadium (Vila Belmiro) are always full of emotions. Fluminense and their talented trio (Ganso, Arias, and Cano) have tried their best to score more goals, but couldn’t do more than 2.
Santos scored the drawing goal in the last minute with the super talented striker Marcos Leonardo. That was a great goal to watch!
