Bellator 277 RoundUp – McKee vs. Pitbull 2 – Review and Fight Analysis

AJ Mckee vs. Patricio Pitbull

Our Pick: AJ McKee

Outcome: Patricio Pitbull is once more the featherweight king in Bellator after a UD Victory.

The fight was even between McKee and Pitbull at first, as both fighters started strong with significant strikes.

It was in the second round where Pitbull gained a clear lead over McKee.

During the third round, he connected the champion and rocked him, managing to score the third.

The 4rth round was on McKee’s side but the fifth may have been the one to give Pitbull the match on 48-46, 49-46 y 48-47 scores.

Vadim Nemkov vs. Corey Anderson

Our Pick: Corey Anderson

Outcome: The Light-Heavyweight Grand Prix with no Winner.

The Co-main event of the evening ended up in a No-Contest, as it was during the third round that an accidental headbutt from Corey Anderson caused a big cut on the Champion, Vadim Nemkov.

The doctor stopped the fight and Frank Trigg called the bout into a ‘No Contest’, as the third round of the match had not yet finished.

Aaron Pico vs. Adli Edwards

Our Pick: Aaron Pico

Outcome: Aaron Pico scores third-round TKO of Adli Edwards in one-sided affair.

Pico used Edwards like a punching bag over two full rounds and a brief segment of the third.

Aaron Pico had leveled ahead of his unranked opponent, lighting him up with strikes for nearly 10 full minutes.

Pico eliminated judges from the match by landing a thumping strike near the fence line that stumbled Edwards, forcing referee Mike Beltran to stop the fight early in the third round.

Timothy Johnson vs. Linton Vassell

Our Pick: Linton Vassell

Outcome: Linton Vassell flips the script, pulls off improbable comeback over Tim Johnson

Vassell was in trouble early, as Johnson rocked him badly enough the Brit felt the need to shoot for a takedown.

Johnson stuffed Vassell into the canvas hard, as he swung around to land punches from the top.

Vassell tried to escape and eventually rose to his feet, but his equilibrium did not.

As the two fighters moved up, Vassell toppled over again – still shook from Johnson’s punches.

Johnson ran full speed and crashed his body into his downed opponent. More heavy ground-and-pound came.

Referee Blake Grice kept a close eye on things but elected to stay away.

Vassell grabbed hold of a leg and reversed Johnson.

From there, he quickly moved into mount.

Punch after punch, Vassell calmly landed. Johnson, bloodied, tried to escape – but couldn’t until the referee waved things off.
