The emotions of the Premier League continue, and this week, we enjoyed the games of the 19th matchday of the season 2023/24.
That means the first half of the season is already history, and the fight for the top is getting more intense. Thanks to Liverpool’s victory and the defeat of Arsenal and Aston Villa the former took first place. However, only 3 points separate these three teams.
On the other hand, Manchester City returned to winning ways, and, in case of winning their postponed game, they would get just 2 points shy of the top. Meanwhile, Tottenham suffered a huge upset in their quest to finish the year inside the top four, as their meltdown against Brighton left them at the mercy of City getting surprised by the worst team in the league to fulfill their goal.
Finally, West Ham is showing an excellent level after winning for the fourth time in the last five matches.
The reality is that the Premier League this season is more even than ever, and this second half of the season will be full of action and, above all, excitement.
Let’s see what happened in the most important games of this 19th round of the Premier League.

One of the most intense matches we experienced in round 19 was between Manchester United and Aston Villa. Everything pointed to a match full of intensity, and so it was, as the Red Devils were able to come back from 0-2 down to win 3-2.
As expected, Aston Villa started the match with a lot of intensity and took control of the ball and the game. So much so that, in the 21st minute, John McGinn gave the villains a 1-0 lead. However, this did not stop there, as Leander Dendoncker made the score 2-0 five minutes later.
The game went into halftime with Aston Villa leading 2-0. However, the second half was completely different, as the Red Devils woke up and gradually began to hurt the visiting team.
In the 59th minute, Alejandro Garnacho scored United’s first goal to make the score 1-2. Then, 12 minutes later, Garnacho equalized the score 2-2 with a great goal to restart the score.
Finally, in the 82nd minute, Rasmus Hojlund scored the final 3-2 for Manchester United to deal a blow to Aston Villa’s aspirations to be at the top of the standings.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City went into Matchday 19 of the Premier League with the firm conviction of getting a victory that would help them stay in the fight for the top of the table. After a back-and-forth match, the Citizens managed to get an excellent 3-1 victory.
The game began with Manchester City attacking Everton’s defense at full throttle. However, in the 29th minute, the home side took advantage of an error by Rodri to score the first goal of the game through Jack Harrison.
That, undoubtedly, hit a City side in total control of the game but struggling to be effective in front of goal.
In the second half, the same dynamic continued, but in the 53rd minute, Phil Foden surprised everyone with a wondergoal from outside the area to equalize. Then, 11 minutes later, a hand in Everton’s area led to a penalty for City, later converted by Argentine striker Julián Álvarez.
Finally, Bernardo Silva put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute to give his team a 3-1 victory.
Result: Everton (1) – (3) Manchester City

Finally, one of the big surprises we had in this 19th Premier League matchday was West Ham’s 2-0 away win over Arsenal. Everyone had in mind that Arsenal would take the victory, and they even deserved to score one or more goals. However, West Ham could hold on and take the 3 points.
This is one of those games that, we can say, was unfair, as Arsenal generated 30 scoring chances, with eight direct shots on goal, and they failed to score a single time. However, West Ham generated only six dangerous chances, with three shots on goal, two of which were goals.
In the 13th minute, Tomas Soucek opened West Ham’s account, surprising everyone at the Emirates Stadium. Although Arsenal came very close to equalizing on more than one occasion, West Ham put the game to bed with a goal by Konstantinos Mavropanos in the 55th minute.
This defeat for Arsenal allows Liverpool to take over the first place in the table and have a two-point lead over the Gunners.
Result: Arsenal (0) – (2) West Ham
