Aston Villa secured a crucial victory, defeating Manchester City 2-1 to overtake them in the standings and climb to sixth place.

The match opened early, in the 16th minute, with Jhon Durán calmly finishing after a pass from Morgan Rogers. This marked the Colombian’s fourth consecutive game scoring, giving him the best goal-per-minute ratio in the Premier League: one goal every 80 minutes.

In the second half, Rogers added a goal of his own, receiving the ball in the box and firing a low, angled shot to make it 2-0.

Deep into stoppage time, at 90+3’, an error by Lucas Digne handed the ball to Phil Foden, who capitalized and scored in front of the goalkeeper. However, it wasn’t enough for a comeback.

The Villains now sit in sixth place with 28 points, one ahead of the Citizens, who have suffered three consecutive losses, dropping nine of their last 12 points.

Arsenal returned to winning ways after two consecutive draws by crushing Crystal Palace 1-5 away from home.

Gabriel Jesus, who had scored a hat-trick against the same team earlier in the week in the EFL Cup (3-2), was once again the standout player with two goals and came close to scoring several more. The Brazilian striker opened the scoring just six minutes in, pouncing on a loose ball near the edge of the six-yard box.

However, the hosts quickly equalized just five minutes later with a well-placed shot to the far post by Ismaïla Sarr.

Palace’s joy was short-lived. At the 15th minute, Gabriel Jesus struck again with a first-time shot into the top corner after a cut-back pass from Thomas Partey. Jesus nearly secured a third goal in the 38th minute, but his header struck the post. Kai Havertz, alert to the rebound, slotted it home to make it 1-3.

In the second half, Gabriel Martinelli sealed the victory in the 60th minute by deflecting a shot from Declan Rice. The English midfielder then wrapped up the scoring himself in the 84th minute with Arsenal’s fifth goal.

The Gunners now have 33 points, trailing Liverpool by six, while Crystal Palace sits 16th with 16 units.

Chelsea ended their streak of eight consecutive victories with a 0-0 draw against Everton, retaining second place but falling further behind Liverpool.

The Blues started stronger and had a clear chance through Nicolas Jackson, but Jordan Pickford made the save. However, it was the Toffees who grew into the game, coming closer to scoring with efforts from Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye, though Robert Sánchez and the Londoners’ defense held firm.

With this result, Chelsea reached 35 points, four behind Liverpool, who also have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Everton sits 15th with 16 points.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah capitalized on a couple of rebounds to score in the 54th minute, adding another five minutes later and reaching 15 goals in the league and solidifying his position as the Premier League’s top scorer.
