Premier League Matchday 16: Liverpool 2-2 Fulham

One of the weekend’s surprises unfolded at Anfield, where league leaders Liverpool dropped points in a 2-2 draw against Fulham.

The Reds were trailing from the start. In just the 11th minute, Andreas Pereira executed an acrobatic finish from an Antonee Robinson cross to make it 1-0. Matters worsened for Liverpool when Andrew Robertson received a red card in the 17th minute for a last-man foul.

The first half ended with the hosts in trouble, but just after the break, in the 47th minute, Cody Gakpo headed in a Mohamed Salah cross to level the score at 1-1.

In the 76th minute, Fulham regained the lead with a clever backheel goal by Rodrigo Muniz, once again assisted by Robinson. However, in the 86th minute, Diogo Jota brought Liverpool back with a fine individual effort after receiving a pass from Darwin Núñez, beating a defender and firing in the equalizer for the final 2-2 scoreline.

Liverpool remains atop the table with 36 points, two ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand, while Fulham sits eighth with 24 points.

Premier League Matchday 16: Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United

The Manchester Derby also delivered surprises, as Manchester United staged a late comeback led by Amad Diallo to secure a 1-2 victory at the Etihad over Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s team took the lead in the 36th minute with a header from Josko Gvardiol, following a cross from Kevin De Bruyne. The Croatian defender is now the team’s second-highest scorer with four goals, highlighting the struggles of City’s current form.

It seemed like the hosts, despite not playing well, were on track for a much-needed win. However, United kept pushing and finally equalized in the 88th minute after a costly error by Matheus Nunes, who lost possession to Amad Diallo. Moments later, Nunes committed a reckless and unnecessary foul inside the box, gifting United a penalty. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted with ease.

Seconds later, Lisandro Martínez delivered a long pass to Diallo, who controlled it with some difficulty but managed to get past Ederson and fire a shot from a tight angle. Gvardiol failed to clear it, and the ball found the net for the 1-2 final score, sealing the Red Devils dramatic victory.

Manchester City has now dropped to fifth place with 27 points, enduring a dismal stretch with eight losses in their last 11 matches, alongside two draws and only one win. Meanwhile, United sits in 13th place with 22 points, snapping a two-game losing streak with this victory.

Premier League Matchday 16: Southampton 0-5 Tottenham

Tottenham showed no mercy this weekend, crushing Southampton 0-5 away from home and sinking them further to the bottom of the table.

It was a humiliation, with all five goals scored in the first half. The first came just 36 seconds into the match, with a low shot from James Maddison. At the 12-minute mark, it was Heung-min Son’s turn, scoring another low shot past the keeper, joining the exclusive club of players who have scored in 100 or more Premier League matches.

Just two minutes later, Dejan Kulusevski capitalized on a loose ball in the box, calmly slotting it home for a 0-3 lead by the 14th minute, prompting home fans to start leaving the stadium.

In the 25th minute, Pape Matar Sarr entered the box and placed a shot into the corner for the 4-0. Finally, James Maddison, who had an outstanding game, sealed the score in the last minute of first-half injury time with a shot from a very tight angle, perfectly placing the ball into the far corner.

With this victory, the Spurs climbed to 10th place with 23 points, while Southampton remains rooted to the bottom of the table with just five units.

Premier League Matchday 14: Chelsea 2-1 Brentford

It was a closely contested match, with the Blues taking the lead in the 43rd minute thanks to a header from Marc Cucurella—a much-needed moment for the Spaniard after his slips against Tottenham and the infamous photo of his boots.

The Bees kept pressing, with a fantastic shot from Christian Norgaard spectacularly saved by Robert Sánchez and a strike from Fabio Carvalho that hit the post, bounced on the line, and stayed out.

Chelsea managed to hold on, and Nicolas Jackson provided breathing room with a goal in the 80th minute. However, in the 90th minute, Bryan Mbeumo pulled one back, adding drama to the final moments, but it wasn’t enough.
