Premier League Matchday 14

The Premier League Matchday 14 has come and gone, and the results it brought upon us have given us something to think about, as we see the top switching once more.

Arsenal has continued to build upon their momentum and now has a three-match win streak, which has allowed them to get a two-point lead on the top.

The lead would’ve been bigger, but Liverpool managed to jump over Manchester City and take the 2nd spot, leaving City one point behind, and Aston Villa managed to keep the 4th spot with a point this matchday.

Now it is time to break down some of the results we got in what was quite an interesting Matchday in the Premier League!

Through the first 20 minutes, it seemed Arsenal were en route to another home romp, up 2-0 on Wolves and flying on the heels of their 6-0 demolition of Lens midweek in the Champions League.

Yet as they have multiple times this season, Gary O’Neil’s group refused to back down from a top-tier Premier League challenge, building themselves back into the match and making things tense down the stretch.

Ultimately, however, it wasn’t enough to overcome the early strikes from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, as Arsenal secured all three points on a 2-1 victory to remain atop the Premier League table. Matheus Cunha’s 86th-minute goal made the final minutes tense, but Wolves were unable to snag another top-seven scalp.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored late, and Liverpool extended its unbeaten run to seven games in a wild 4-3 win over Fulham at Anfield on Sunday.

The former right-back, now a midfielder, also hit a free kick that turned into a Bernd Leno own goal, while Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo also scored as Liverpool led twice but had to come back from a 3-2 deficit to win at home.

Harry Wilson, Kenny Tete, and Bobby Decordova-Reid scored for Fulham, who led until Endo’s 87th-minute leveler.

USMNT man Antonee Robinson assisted Wilson’s goal and became the first American player to record an assist in three consecutive Premier League appearances. He is also the first to do so in the five major European leagues since at least 2006-07 (Opta).

Antoine Semenyo made the most of a defensive error to put Bournemouth ahead early on, but Leon Bailey soon made it 1-1 as the game ebbed and flowed throughout. With plenty of yellow cards dished out and chances galore at either end, Emiliano Martinez and Neto made fine saves, and Diego Carlos was denied a goal by VAR as he was offside by a couple of cm.

Bournemouth regained the lead early in the second half through Dominic Solanke, and they could have extended their lead, but the brilliant Martinez came up big, allowing Villa to grab a point late on.

A cross into the box in the 90th minute found Ollie Watkins and the red-hot striker did superbly to send a header into the far corner and grab a point for Champions League-chasing Villa.
