The home quintet will depend on the production of their young star Victor Wembanyama, who has been the team’s best scorer and rebounder in the group stage. However, other experienced players such as Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum, or Evan Fournier should also be mentioned.

For their part, the Canadians have not impressed with their form, but they have so much individual talent that, at times, it seems impossible to stop their offensive barrage. They finished undefeated in the group stage and among their most important players are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barret, Andrew Nembhard, and Dillon Brooks. In addition, Jamal Murray is still expected to find his best rhythm.

Let’s close with the all-powerful United States National Team. They are undefeated in their zone, they have the luxury of sitting star players throughout the game and, as if that were not enough, they have the two most dominant basketball players of the tournament: LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

LeBron is in charge of managing the team’s tempo, while Durant is unbeatable from long distance. And if those two miss, there’s Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Anthony David, Joel Embiid, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White to pick up the slack.

Brazil has to dance with the toughest, however, they already proved they can be uncomfortable when they made a good showing against France. The prediction is for the United States to advance.

On the women’s side, let’s start by talking about the United States, which in this section also becomes the great candidate to take absolute glory.

They had an ideal group stage, with three wins and an abysmal points difference of +58. That is why they were the best qualifiers, and will face Nigeria, who won twice against Australia and Canada and lost once versus France, thus advancing to the quarterfinals as the best third-placed team.

A’ja Wilson is the best scorer and rebounder for the Americans, but there are other players to watch, such as Sabrina Lonescu, Breanna Stewart, and Jackie Young.

On the side of the Africans, Ezinne Kalu was their best scorer with 64 points, while Murjanatu Musa and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah had 20 rebounds.

Spain also managed to advance to the round of the best eight with an outstanding group stage, beating strong opponents such as Serbia, China, and Puerto Rico.

Megan Mustafson led in points in two of the three Spanish games, while in rebounds she was always the most outstanding, demonstrating that her experience in the WNBA weighs in this tournament played on French soil.

The Iberian team’s opponent will be Belgium, which only won once and lost twice, but was fortunate enough to advance as the best third team. Their victory was against Japan in the last game, where both teams were fighting for third place, and the Europeans needed to win by 27 points, and so they did. It was 85 to 58, 27 points exactly.

Belgium is the current European champion, and less than a month ago they beat Spain 76 – 58 in a friendly game. Emma Meesseman has been their most outstanding player, scoring 30 points in her last game and 79 in the tournament, in addition to 12 assists and 17 rebounds, 11 of them against Japan.
