Why Bet on the Vikings?

Most NFL experts predicted a big step back this year for the Vikings simply because they were so historically good in one-score games in 2022 – winning a league-record 11 such games — that they had to regress to the mean. That regression showed in Week 1, a 20-17 upset loss at home against a rebuilding Tampa Bay.

Kirk Cousins put up typically good numbers with 344 yards and two scores but also a terrible interception. Justin Jefferson caught nine passes for 150 yards but was kept out of the end zone. Jefferson’s nine 150-yard games before turning 25 are an NFL record. The running game was non-existent. Centre Garrett Bradbury left with an injury and didn’t return. Minnesota outgained Tampa Bay 369-242 but also turned it over three times and had zero takeaways.

Why Bet on the Eagles?

Defending NFC champion Philadelphia jumped out to a 16-0 first-quarter lead at New England on Sunday and was very quiet the rest of the way but managed to hang on in a 25-20 victory – Coach Nick Sirianni admitted not playing most of his key guys in the preseason could have been a factor, and he might change that next year.

Jalen Hurts threw for 170 yards and a TD and rushed for 37 yards. The team’s new featured back was supposed to be Rashaad Penny, but he was a shocking healthy scratch. Trade acquisition D’Andre Swift only had two touches with Kenneth Gainwell the main guy. Good luck figuring out that fantasy rotation. Second-year starting linebacker Nakobe Dean hurt his foot and is likely to miss time.

Final Betting Analysis: Vikings vs. Eagles

Following the Vikings’ upset loss and the Eagles’ Week 1 win on the road, it’s no surprise that Philly is the clear home favorite for Thursday’s matchup.

Minnesota generated 369 yards of offense in their Week 1 loss, with only 41 of those coming on the ground. To make matters worse, the Vikings also had a pretty sloppy game with three turnovers and six penalties for 45 yards. Minnesota has a better offense than that, but we are yet to see if that’s enough to turn it around.

As for Philadelphia, they had a tepid 251 total yards (154 passing) in their win over the Patriots. The Eagles went just 4-of-13 on third downs and had 17 first downs to the Patriots’ 24. Minnesota is going to have to limit their mistakes in Week 2, but we think the Eagles have the weapons to pass over them.

Go for a straight win for the Philadelphia Eagles Moneyline. If you bet $100 at -319, you will gain $31.35 for a total payout of $131.35.
