The NFL preseason is over and we are getting ready for the regular season action, which will be starting next September 5 with the current champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, hosting the Baltimore Ravens.
Still with many doubts, since many of the main protagonists of this season did not see action during these weeks, we were also able to observe some young and new faces that allow us to look forward to a great year.
This last week was one with many surprises, as it usually happens, where the main favorites lost, as was the case of the Bills against the Panthers or the Patriots versus the Commanders, among others.

The Cincinnati Bengals closed a bad preseason with three losses, falling to the Buccaneers, Bears, and in the last week to the Indianapolis Colts at home 14-27.
It was not a good day for Logan Woodside, who played the entire game at quarterback for his team but failed to make much progress. He went 16-to-21, with just 98 yards and a touchdown. However, it should be remembered that Woodside will not be the starter in the regular season.
Among the team’s standouts in this game were running back Trayvon Williams, with 11 carries (66 yards) and five receptions (11 yards), and linebacker Devin Harper with 11 tackles.
For the Colts, they used four quarterbacks, but only Anthony Richardson scored a touchdown. The 21-year-old Adonai Mitchell, who comes from the NCAA’s Texas Longhorns, scored his first touchdown, the first of the game.
Indianapolis lost its first game against the Broncos and beat the Cardinals and Bengals.

A big Kyle Trask led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their second win of the preseason with a 24-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins, who also went 2-1 in the preseason.
Trask went 17-to-24 for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while Rachaad White scored the team’s other rushing touchdown. Eastern Michigan junior Tanner Knue closed the scoring with his first NFL touchdown.
For the Dolphins, Skylar Thompson wants minutes this season and tried to take advantage of the preseason. This Friday he went 19-to-27 with 190 yards and two touchdowns scored by Hayden Rucci of the Wisconsin Badgers and Kyric McGowan, who has been with the team for a few years but has yet to play a regular season game.
Miami’s defensive standout was Channing Tindall with 12 tackles. Before this game, the Dolphins had beaten the Falcons (20 – 13) and Commanders (13 – 6).

In one of the highest-scoring games of the week, the Carolina Panthers pulled off the upset by defeating the Buffalo Bills 26 – 31.
Counting the regular season, the Panthers snapped a five-game losing streak and it is only the second win in the last 13 games and the third in the previous 23. They had not won a preseason game since August 26, 2022.
Very good game by quarterback Jack Plummer, who comes from the NCAA’s Louisville Cardinals, who went 21-to-29 with 278 yards and two touchdowns, with a 38-yard pass being his longest.
Bryce Young, who will be the starter this year, also played a few minutes and was good enough to complete six passes out of eight attempts and add a touchdown.
The Bills finished with a negative 1-2 record after falling to the Bears and beating the Steelers.
Quarterback Anthony Brown, who was one of the last players to arrive on the team, had his debut and went 11-to-12 with 102 yards, while Ben DiNucci went 11-to-15 with 76 yards.
Players of note included Southern Mississippi running back Frank Gore, who had 18 rushing attempts with 101 yards and a touchdown.

Another surprise of the week was the victory of the Green Bay Packers over the Baltimore Ravens by 30 – 7, a game where Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph scored 12 of the 30 points with their kicks.
The Packers, who had previously beaten the Browns and lost to the Broncos, focused their game on rushing attempts, and it was Ellis Merriweather who tried the most (16), followed by Emanuel Wilson and Nate McCrary with 11. Besides those three, there was only one more attempt, and that was quarterback Sean Clifford, who also went 6-to-14, 53 yards, and a touchdown.
Michael Pratt, who comes from the Tulane Green Wave, went 8-to-12 with 80 yards and his first NFL touchdown.
On the Baltimore Ravens’ side, who closed the preseason with a negative 1-2 record, Tylan Wallace scored the only touchdown after a 48-yard Josh Johnson pass, which gave his team a 6-7 lead, including the following Justin Tucker kick.
