Why Bet on the 49ers?
The 49ers want to recover this season from the pain of losing the Super Bowl last year. To that end, coach Kyle Shanahan decided to keep the team’s core for this championship, led by Brock Purdy who will be more recovered from his old injuries.
However, in this first preseason game, Purdy was not in the game, and the quarterback was Joshua Dobbs, who arrived from the Minnesota Vikings. Dobbs had a good game, with 14 passes out of 20 attempts, and146 yards, plus he scored a touchdown. But it was no good, as his team fell 17-13 against the Titans. Jordan Mason scored the other TD, while Jake Moody contributed one point with a field goal.
What’sworse, is that after the first game, the 49ers are up to 23 injured players, with cornerback Ambry Thomas (forearm) and defensive lineman Kalia Davis (knee) being the latest to be added to the list. It’s certainly a tough blow for the team, whichwill hope to get as many back as it can for the season opener in September. Already Coach Shanahan has said he will play a team with backup players, although Purdy is expected to get some minutes on the field.
Why Bet on the Saints?
The New Orleans Saints want to improve on the previous season, when they crashed out of the regular in the last game, after winning against the Atlanta Falcons, but losing the NFC South to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the wild card to the Green Bay Packers, which both also won on the last day.
In their first preseason game, they managed to defeat the Arizona Cardinals 16-14 thanks to a Charlie Smyth kick in the last five seconds. Earlier, Blake Grupe had scored seven runs with kicks and quarterback Spencer Rattler, chosen in the fifth round of this year’s draft, scored the only touchdown.
Rattler, who comes from the South Carolina Gamecocks, had 9 passes in 17 attempts and 70 yards, while Jake Haener went 9-of-13 with 107 yards.
Among the young draft picks, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry had three tackles, linebacker Jaylan Ford had two, and defensive lineman Khristian Boyd had one. On the other hand, offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, a first-round pick by the Saints, is not recovering and will likely not play this preseason as they look to get him in top condition for Week 1 of the NFL.
Final Betting Analysis: 49ers vs. Saints
The last time they met was on November 27, 2022, and the 49ers won 13-0.
The numbers at Gambyl Exchange have the Saints as the favorite. Their Moneyline shows 1.8, while the 49ers have 1.91.
While the 49ers probably have a better roster than the Saints, the reigning NFL runners-up have a ton of injury losses, so we’re leaning in favor of the New Orleans team.
Go for a win for the Saints. If you bet $100 at 1.8, you will gain $80 for a total payout of $180.
