The Matchday 11 of the Clausura MX 2024 was marked by surprises, mainly that of Cruz Azul, which showed one of its worst versions and fell visiting Santos Laguna.
In the game of the weekend, América was unbeatable and overcame Tigres in what was a repeat of the last final. Querétaro, for its part, dealt another unexpected blow by defeating Pachuca as a visitor.
Meanwhile, Monterrey regained the lead with a 2-1 home win over Mazatlán.

Santos Laguna had one of the most unexpected results of the day, beating Cruz Azul, one of the best teams in the Liga MX, 3-0.
In the 36th minute, Diego Medina opened the account by taking advantage of a pass from Jordan Carrillo and beating the opposing goalkeeper with a header. The second conversion came at 69′ with Franco Fagundez sending a cross from Santiago Muñoz to the back of the net, and the last one came from the latter, thanks to a shot to the far post.
Santos Laguna, who was without striker Harold Preciado due to a positive doping test, is 12th with 13 points, while Cruz Azul is in third position with 22.

Querétaro struck a blow with a 2-1 away win over Pachuca, ending the Tuzos’ five-game unbeaten streak.
Federico Lertora headed in the opener from Pablo Barrera’s free kick (7′). Then, at 63′, Facundo Batista was assisted in the area by Jordan Sierra, and with a header, he inflated the net. Salomón Rondón scored a penalty kick for the home team (79′) but wasn’t enough. The Venezuelan forward is the tournament top-scorer with seven goals.
Despite the defeat, Pachuca remains in the top position with 22 points in the fourth spot, and Querétaro moved up to tenth place with 14.

With 28 minutes on the clock, Dutchman Javairo Dilrosun broke down the flank and opened the account with a shot at the far post. Alejandro Zendejas sealed the victory by controlling a long ball, holding off his marker, and beating goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán.
The Águilas reached 24 points and once again demonstrated that they are more than the Monterrey team, while the Felino club has 18 points and has only won one of the last five games it has played.

Monterrey continues its remarkable performance in the Liga MX Clausura 2024, defeating Mazatlán 2-1 at home and remaining the only unbeaten team in the tournament.
In the first half, Rayados did their homework, as at 18′, Gerardo Arteaga opened the account with a cross-shot, and then, at 38′, Germán Berterame scored the second when he took a rebound left by the rival goalkeeper. Luis Amarilla scored for the visitors on the hour mark, adding drama to the game and making goalkeeper Esteban Andrada the star of the show.
Monterrey reached 25 points and maintained first place, while Mazatlán is 15th with nine.
