Why Bet on Chivas?
Even though it’s still early, and the team is in the playoffs position, Chivas has been disappointing. A club built to fight for the championship is struggling in the middle of the table.
It was a bad start for Fernando Gago’s team, drawing goalless with Toluca and losing to Tijuana (4-2). But then they recovered and started to pick up points, beating Querétaro (0-2) and Mazatlán (2-0), as well as the recent draw in Monterrey against Tigres (1-1).
In the middle of this, they had two draws and a subsequent loss on penalties against San Jose Earthquakes (1-1) and LA Galaxy (2-2) in the Leagues Cup, being eliminated in the group stage.
In Liga MX, they are in ninth place with eight points, scoring seven goals and conceding five, although were only in two games, so it’s been a good defense. “Cowboy” Cade Cowell is the team’s top scorer with three goals and one assist.
Chicharito is still expected to raise his level and return to being the scorer he once was. Since his arrival in January, he has only scored one goal, although it is also true that due to injuries he has only been able to play 16 games in all competitions, eight of them as a starter (four in this tournament). Precisely, the striker was absent against Tigres due to discomfort and is a doubt for the weekend.
They have been unbeaten at home for seven games, having last lost on March 9 against León. There were four wins and three draws in that period.
Why Bet on Juárez?
Lousy tournament for Juárez. Although it is a team from which not much was expected, what it has done is too bad. They drew their first home game with Atlas (2-2) and then lost all their matches against Toluca (3-2), Pumas (1-2), América (1-2), and the most recent one with Necaxa (3-0). They are second to last with one point, surpassed only by Querétaro, who has lost everything.
Surprisingly, they were one of the few Mexican teams that made it through the group stage of the Leagues Cup, beating Dallas (2-0) and tying with St. Louis (1-1) and then defeating them on penalties. In the round of 32, they lost to Colorado 3-2.
The only positive news that can be highlighted is the return of Diego Valoyes, injured in October last year, having just arrived from Talleres. The Colombian had played some minutes in the Leagues Cup, and against Necaxa, he played 30 minutes, so, he may be a starter this weekend.
Juarez has conceded in every game, although they also scored until they faced Necaxa. Interestingly, their last two league victories have been away wins, defeating Mazatlan (0-2) and San Luis (2-3) last season.
