Tigres made sure they respected their home against Atlético San Luis in this match for Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2024. The feline squad won 1-0 to stay in second place in the standings.
Although the home side came away with the win, Atlético San Luis had plenty of opportunities to take the victory or, at the very least, to level the score. Possession of the ball favored the visitors, with a scandalous 66%. However, the ineffectiveness of their attack took its toll in this match.
The game was conditioned from minute 34′ when Tigres was left with ten players on the field after Juan Brunetta was sent off. However, seconds before the end of the match, specifically at minute 90+8′, they managed to score a goal through Fernando Gorriarán.
Result: Tigres (1) – (0) San Luis

Toluca gave a footballing lesson at their home, the Nemesio Diez Stadium, against Tijuana, as they achieved a crushing 4-0 victory that keeps them in the fight for the top of the standings.
Toluca was superior to Tijuana at all times, there is no doubt about that. However, the visitors also had a few chances to get on the scoreboard.
The match started with a give and take, where Toluca had much more presence in the opponent’s area, and thanks to this, they opened the scoring thanks to Ricardo Angulo’s first goal of the night in minute 39.
With the score at 1-0, the teams went to the break to rethink their plans. However, six minutes into the second half, Marcel Ruiz scored the 2-0 for Toluca, which left Tijuana breathless.
That was not all, as in the 79th minute, Angulo scored his second goal of the night to turn the match into a rout. Finally, in the 90+3′ minute, João Paulo Dias Fernandes scored the definitive 4-0.
Result: Toluca (4) – (0) Tijuana

Chivas left us with an impressive match in which the Águilas won 1-0 at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium for the “Clásico Nacional.”
The match could have gone either way, and Chivas had more possession (68%) and more scoring chances (16) than América (32% and seven). However, the effectiveness of Guadalajara’s forwards was completely nil in this match.
América was able to take advantage of one of the few chances it had in minute 31′ when Ramón Juárez del Castillo scored the only goal. From that moment on, Chivas went on the attack, but it was all in vain, and they went home empty-handed.
Result: América (1) – (0) Guadalajara

Finally, one of the most entertaining matches of the day was between León and Cruz Azul, which was a 2-1 victory for the visiting team.
León started the match at full speed, as they managed to score the first goal through Venezuelan Jhonder Cádiz in minute five.
However, this was the only positive for the feline squad, who were unable to do much more against the Cementeros. On the other hand, seconds before the end of the first half, Cruz Azul managed to tie the match thanks to Lorenzo Faravelli’s goal at minute 45+2′.
Finally, when we all thought the match would end in a draw, Carlos Rotondi scored the definitive 2-1 for Cruz Azul in the 83rd minute to keep his team at the top of the Apertura MX 2024.
Result: León (1) – (2) Cruz Azul
