Club América is tearing up the first phase of Liga MX, winning the last eight matches and leading with a 10-point advantage over its pursuers.
The latest victim of the ‘Águilas’ was Tijuana, who confirmed they are the worst visitors in the competition, with a drubbing at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City.
Tigres, for their part, were unable to pick themselves up after last week’s defeat and were surprised by Atlético San Luis, who salvaged a point away from a heavyweight opponent.
Monterrey fulfilled its task and took advantage of an irregular Pachuca to join Tigres as America’s runners-up in the table. The ‘Tuzos’ made their goal of advancing to the playoffs more difficult at home.
Pumas were able to recover, ending a bad streak by beating Atlas at the Olímpico Universitario stadium.
