Event Overview – Sony Open in Hawaii – 2022 – PGA Golf Tour
The Sony Open in Hawaii is a professional golf tournament, part of the PGA Tour since 1965.
Originally introduced as the Hawaiian Open, it has always been hosted by the Waialae Country Club in Eastern Honolulu.
The tournament’s “open” status allows up to 3 golfers from emerging markets to enter the field each year, so it provides a good opportunity to see some fresh talent alongside more established stars on the PGA Tour.
In 2007, amateur Tadd Fujikawa become the youngest player in 50 years to make a 36-hole cut in an official PGA Tour event at the age of just 16 years and 4 days.
The reigning champion is Kevin Na, who won by 1 shot ahead of Chris Kirk and Joaquin Niemann after hitting a birdie on the final hole.
We will have the defending champion on the course and we also got multiple past champions this year.
The past champions include Patton Kizzire, Ryan Palmer, Jimmy Walker, Johnson Wahner, and Jerry Kelly.
