The world of golf has all its attention this week at the Augusta National Golf Club, where from Thursday, April 7, 2022, a new edition of the iconic 2022 Masters Tournament will be played. The 2022 Masters Tournament will bring together the best players in the world in search of glory.
This will be the 86th edition of the Masters and the first tournament of the four major men’s golf championships in the world to be held in 2022.
The players who will participate in this event are exclusively by invitation, either because of their ranking on the PGA Tour, because of the championships recently obtained, or because of the winners of past editions, the first finalists in different important tournaments, among others.
As we said, this will be the first Major of the year and, a priori, we have a very even tournament since there is no clear favorite to win. The Spanish Jon Rahm lands at the Augusta National with some doubts and after having lost the #1 ranking, but he is still one of the main candidates. The one from Barrika is dragging his putt problems from the beginning and despite having tried different models and even changed from one day to another in the Genesis Invitational, something unusual.
Notable Players
Any of the great golfers can win this Major, but it is evident that only a small group of athletes is among the candidates, and it would not be a surprise if they achieved victory in this tournament. Among them, we must include Hideki Matsuyama for being the current holder of such an important title, although he arrives with doubts. Scottie Scheffler will play his first Major as #1 and if there is any golfer who is standing out above the rest these months it is him. At only 25 years old, he leads the world table and is displaying an overwhelming game, and, most importantly, he is being regular.
Another name to add to the list is none other than Collin Morikawa, winner of two majors.
Cameron Smith arrives rested after playing the Match Play and with the victory in the TPC under his arm, in addition, if he manages to win he would finish the tournament as the best player in the world.
