Super Bowl
The Groups of the Champions League 2223 Edition

The Champions League Draw was celebrated just some minutes ago. So, we already know the fate of the 32 teams that dream of putting their hands on the most important trophy at the club level in the world.

This will be one of the last editions of the Champions League under this format. According to UEFA, the competition will suffer many changes for the 2024/25 edition, with more teams and games. Of course, this caused some opposition between the clubs, fans, and players, but the Superliga scandal took the attention from it. Also, it’s worth noting that the clubs punished for the Superliga had to accept the new format without any complaints.

Knowing this, let’s take a look at the groups and their composition.

UEFA Champions League 2022/2023 Groups

  • Group A: Ajax, Liverpool, Napoli, and Rangers
  • Group B: Porto, Atlético Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and Club Brugge
  • Group C: Bayern, Barcelona, Inter, and Plzen
  • Group D: Frankfurt, Tottenham, Sporting and Marseille
  • Group E: Milan, Chelsea, Salzburg, and Dinamo Zagreb
  • Group F: Real Madrid, Leipzig, Shakhtar, and Celtic
  • Group G: Manchester City, Sevilla, Dortmund, and Copenhagen
  • Group H: PSG, Juventus, Benfica, and Maccabi Haifa

Overview of the Champions League Groups after the Draw

Contrary to last year, this time we have just one clear group of death. In this case, group C not only counts teams that have won the competition in recent years but also includes the winner and the runner-up of 3 of the 4 most important leagues in Europe. Also, for us, the group with the most parity is D, although Frankfurt had a dreadful start to its campaign.

Last year’s champions, Real Madrid, are in a pretty accessible group, while runners-up Liverpool will have to battle with Napoli for the first place.

Our UEFA Champions League Predictions

After this year’s Champions League Draw we can have a clear view of how the main candidates will start their journey. knowing that, we will present our picks for this year’s champions in order:

  • Real Madrid
  • PSG
  • Bayern Munich
  • Manchester City
  • Barcelona

At first, we have the champions. Nothing more to say, when we are talking about the Champions League, is deluded to not mention the team with 14 trophies and the most luck in the competition.

Then we have the team that, by name, may have the best squad in the world and should start showing that now that they are the team with the best start to the campaign in Europe. Close behind is Bayern, also a killing machine, and then the most expensive team in the world, that in the last couple of years seems to have everything to win but is lacking a little something yet. Let’s see if that little something is Erling Haaland.

Finally, we have Barcelona, practically with a new starting eleven compared to last year. However, they still should take some time to make all the gears fit, so they appear last.

Two notable exclusions are Liverpool and the Italian teams. Sadly for the Reds, it seems that the departure of Sadio Mane was not fully covered and that, along with injuries, seems to have taken a toll on a team that seems far away from that terrifying force of last season. Finally, we should point out that Serie A is still a long way out from recovering its former glory. Also, all their teams got themselves in fairly difficult groups.

If we should point out a black horse, it would be Tottenham. The team from Antonio Conte has been working well since some time ago. Also, the Italian manager has yet to include a good Champions League run in his illustrious CV.

Likewise, we should close the article by mentioning that at Gambyl you can find everything from the UEFA Champions League betting odds, predictions, and game info.
