Why Bet on Benfica?

Benfica comes in strong into the quarterfinals, as they steamrolled Club Brugge with a 5-1 score in the second leg of the round of 16, after a 2-0 score on the first.

As Águias are in good form right now (albeit they had a tough game this weekend against Porto), and won eight games on the bounce before that lost.

Before that slip against Porto that could put their first place in the Primeira Liga in jeopardy (altought very hard, still), their last setback was against Braga in the Taça do Portugal, so they seem to be a little frigile in key matches.

Whatever the case, the growth of this team, an sleeping European gigant, has been massive in recent years. From be a supporting actor in recent years in Champions, and reaching more relevance in the Europa League, they have been doing some good stuff on and off the pitch for the last couple of seasons.

In the last edition they got rid of Barcelona and Ajax on their way to a quarterfinals where they troubled Liverpool. So much so, that Darwin Nuñez performances were deemed enough to earn a mega-money transfer to Jürgen Klopp’s team. This time, they were leaders of the group of death, beating PSG in goal difference and humiliating Juventus in both games.

Their off-the-field outings have been impressive as well, as the aforementiloned transfer for the Uruguayan center forward is just one of many cleaver business they have compleated in the last years, becoming one of the highest earners in world football in the selling department.

Why Bet on Inter?

Inter Milan barely made it through the round of 16, as they got a draw in the second leg match against Porto, but they thankfully got a goal ahead in their first meeting, and that was enough to make it into the quarterfinals.

They are winless in five games having lost three and drawn two in that period, with Simone Inzaghi now coming under a bit of pressure in the hot seat.

The Italian has become accostumed to getting unlikely triumphs when he feels his job my be in darger, with his heroics against Barça in the group phase being a prime example. However, he seems to be more on the tightrope than ever, and failing to get pass the Portuguese may fire the last bullet in the cartrige.

If we have to point the main problem of this Nerazurri side, it has to be the inconcistency. Yes, this seems redundant, but we have to develop the idea more to make our point. Lukaku and Lautaro, the best strike partnership in the world a couple of years ago, are the kind of players that could score a hat-trick one game and dissapear for 5 matches next. Their defense, excellent most of the time, has been full of individual mistakes. Milan Skriniar, the speerhead of their back-three, has his head set on a transfer, so this could explain the erratic performances.

This kind of things developed in an Inter side that lost points at the easiest matches (on paper) and won games agains big teams regulary. Heading towards this head to head the things look dire, whatever the case, as they are not winning against anyone anymore.

Benfica vs. Inter Final Betting Analysis:

Benfica have already defeated a Serie A club on two occasions already in the UEFA Champions League this season, with home and away victories versus Juventus in the group stage.

Prior to the 2022-23 campaign, they had only won two of 11 matches against Italian sides in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League.

Internazionale are unbeaten in their last three games in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, while they haven’t conceded a goal in any of those. The Nerazzurri could keep four consecutive clean sheets in the knockout stages of the competition for the first time.

Roger Schmidt’s side are one of only three teams to still be unbeaten in the 2022-23 UCL alongside Bayern Munich and Man City, while only Napoli (25) have scored more goals than they have (23) in the competition this season.

The Portuguese are looking to record five consecutive victories in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 1989-90 campaign, when they won six in a row in route to reaching the final that season (lost 1-0 vs. Milan).

We are expecting Benfica to take a win on a tough match-up, and come in with some extra confidence in the 2nd leg.

Go for a win for the Eagles at +116. If you bet $100 on a victory for Roger Schmidt’s men you could get $116 for a total payout of $216.
