The excitement of Group B was on account of Atletico Madrid, who had a penalty in their favor in the last minute of the game but wasted it. The goal would keep the team alive in the fight for qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but Simeone’s team failed to advance after 6 years of playing in the round of 16. In this way, Club Brugge and Porto qualified early in Group B.

Bayern Munich and Inter qualified in Group C, leaving Barcelona and Viktoria Plzeñ behind. Inter beat Plzeñ 4-0 and secured the second position in the group. Group D remains open; all teams still have a chance to qualify. Tottenham remains in the lead, even after the 1-1 draw with Sporting, in second place. Frankfurt is third, with the same number of points as Sporting, while Marseille is last in the group.

In Group E, Chelsea beat Salzburg away from home, while Milan beat Zagreb 4-0. Chelsea and Milan lead, but Salzburg still has a chance to qualify, as they have only one point less than Milan.

In Group F, Real Madrid is the only team that has already qualified for the knockout stages, despite having lost to Leipzig, 3-2, away from home. The Germans are in third place, while Shakhtar is third (with chances to qualify) and Celtic is last.

At the same time, Benfica beat Juventus 4-3, leaving the Italian team in third place in Group H.
