The Summer Cup will be an exciting event, as we get the 14 teams on the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) against the best six from the Liga MX Women’s League. This joint event between both leagues is historic, and we can’t wait to see how things unfold.
The tournament splits the 20 teams into five groups of four, and we get one Mexican team in each, except for group C, which has two Mexican teams.
This Friday, we will see curtains open with a clash between two NWSL teams, followed by two Mexican teams facing off in the only match confirmed in a Mexican Stadium during the competition.
However, we are focusing on the matches that will pit American vs. Mexican teams on Saturday and Sunday for this first matchday.

The first of the clashes between Mexican and American teams come in Group E, where Racing Louisville faces Monterrey, and we have to point out that both teams are coming in from pretty opposite situations.
Racing Louisville comes in from being 9th last season. They are currently once again in 9th place, as they are on a five-match winless streak, with four losses and a win.
On the opposite side, Monterrey finished in 3rd last season, but they managed to crown themselves as champions and started their recent season with a win.
Thisis going to be a tough match for the North American team, as they face a pretty strong Mexican opponent.

This is bound to be a fun match to watch, but we are giving the nod to the Mexican team to get the upper hand here.

Club Tijuana started their regular season with a loss, and they ended last in the 11th spot, so the team did not do as well as they intended. Either way, they come to prove they are top-tier and will have to make a statement here.
Portland Thorns were the 2nd placed team on the board last season. They are doing pretty good now as well, as they are on the 5th spot on the board and come out from a win in their most recent outing against the defending champions.
Now, this clash may be a little bit of a tough time for the Tijuana Team, but we expect them to put up a fight. However, Portland will be the winner in this clash.
