Super Bowl

The seventh matchday of the Italian Serie A ended on Sunday, leaving unexpected results for many, while for others they are the best possible way to start a season. We say this mainly because of Udinese’s victory over Inter; which set off alarm bells for the Milan team at the very start of the season.

Similarly, we have Napoli and Atalanta continuing at their best possible level, leading the overall standings with 17 points, both with an identical record of 5 wins and 2 draws. Udinese is behind them in third place with 16 points, while Lazio and Milan are levels on 14 points in fourth place.

Roma lost again and this means more problems for Jose Mourinho’s team, while Juventus was manhandled and surprised by Monza, who achieved the first victory in its history in the Italian first division.

We can also highlight that Empoli and Lecce won their first matches this season.

Little by little the fight for the first place in the table is stretching, this is because the teams called favorites this season, are not playing at a good level and, it is costing them to add victories at the beginning of the season.

The best match we could enjoy on this 7th matchday of the Serie A did not disappoint and, there were many emotions between two teams called to be fighting for the title this season, Milan and Napoli, and this time it was the Neapolitans who were able to take the victory 2-1 at the San Siro Stadium.

The match was very evenly matched from the very start, with both teams showing a solid defense that was practically impenetrable for the rival offenses. As a result, the game went into the halftime break with a 0-0 score.

The second half was completely different, in the 55th minute Napoli opened the scoring after a penalty taken by Matteo Politano. The visiting team grew and wanted more goals, so they brought on Gio Simeone to contain the score and extend it if possible.

In the 69th minute, Oliver Giroud equalized with a great goal after a spectacular run by Theo Hernandez on the left.

Finally, the newly-entered Argentine Gio Simeone put the game to bed with a header at the left post of the Milan goal, which ended up in the back of the net.

After this victory, Napoli continues to lead the standings with 17 points, while Milan dropped to fifth place and is 3 points behind it.

We expected a real clash of trains in this match between two direct rivals who are fighting for first place in the overall standings, Roma and Atalanta, and so it was.

Roma needed to give a blow on the table against a direct rival to extend its string of victories and be able to climb to the top of the standings and even more playing at home, but it was not possible.

Paulo Dybala suffered an unexpected injury in the warm-up that left him out of the match. Juan Musso had to leave the match just a few minutes after it had started due to a collision. He was replaced by Marco Sportiello, who made two remarkable interventions to save his team.

Finally, in a very complicated match for both teams where defenses were the protagonists of the day, Atalanta, through Giorgio Scalvini in the 35th minute, was able to score the only goal of the match to get the victory.

With this result, Atalanta remains in first place tied with 17 points with Napoli, while Roma falls to sixth place with 13 points.

Result: Roma (0) – (1) Atalanta

Recent victories over Torino and Viktoria Plzeñ had given Inter the spirit, confidence, and serenity to face this match in the best possible way, but all this disappeared at the Dacia Arena with Udinese playing soccer at an incredible level that led it to crush Inter with a score of 3-1.

Inter started with a goal in the 5th minute, but instead of taking control of the game, it gave it to Udinese, who after several attacks scored an own goal by Skriniar in the 22nd minute.

The first half ended with a 1-1 draw, but with a beaten and upset Inter, especially because of two changes made by Inzaghi that did not please his players at all.

In the second half, after Dzeko’s goal was disallowed for offside, Inter stopped creating danger. While Udinese continued to press and with the help of Deulofeu, it managed to score the 2 goals that gave it the victory. The first in the 84th minute thanks to Jaka Bijol and the second in the 90th minute +3.

With this victory, Udinese records one of the best starts of the season in its history, after scoring 16 points out of a possible 21. Inter, on the other hand, continues to struggle for consistency.

Result: Inter (1) – (3) Udinese
